| | Stock Footage by
Declan
I'm looking for good quality stock footage (MiniDV or DVD quality) to insert
into my own movies.
Does anyone know of a source? Most of the stock footage sites on the web are
aimed at professional or broadcast organisations and are prohibitvely
expensive.
thanks

| | Camcorder to do Analogue to Digital converting by
Martin S Taylor
Hi:
Is there a digital camcorder which can be used as an analogue-digital
converter in real time? I know that most can take an analogue input, record
it on MiniDV, then play it to my computer down the firewire line.
But I've heard there are camcorders which can cut out the middleman and will
allow me to input the analogue at the same time as I'm capturing the digital
on the computer.

| | Zoom question by
Niels Sløk
Hi! I've been wondering...
A JVC camera has 16x optical and 700x digital zoom... a Canon camera has
22x optical and 440x digital zoom... first question is: Which camera will
zoom in THE MOST?
Other question is: What are those digital zoom multiplications good for, if
they can't be compared to the optical zoom?
Looking foreward to some good answers!

| | High quality DVD by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi All,
Does somebody have an experience? I tried to write a high quality DVD -
about one hour video on one 4.7 DVD disk. The DVD video player can't play
this disk, the picture dies, chokes, stops, pulls, etc. The same player can
play DVDs with a normal quality - 2 hours on one 4.7 DVD disk. Is it normal
or something's wrong with my DVD player? Should it play these DVDs, or I
want too much? The...

| | JVC Cam/Firewire WinME nightmare! by
Rob Bealey
i sincerely hope someone can help me with this, cos i'm slowly going
mad, and i have to fix this soon for a degree project i need to edit.
i have a JVC GR-DVL157 that i'm running via a Firewire cable into my
newly purchased 3-port PCI Firewire card.
I've been trying all day to get Windows ME to recognise the ******* but
to no avail. I can assure you i have tried every driver and quick-fix...

| | Live mixing by
Dr Video
Help please - what options exist for live mixing from Mini DV
camcorders? I need to record about an hour to 90 minutes of a live
event, have three appropriate cams, but doing a live mix would
probably work best. I don't mind hiring within a fairly tight budget.

| | Sony PC330 v TRV80 v Video Quality by
Nikki
Hi All
I have been using a JVC GR-DVX (analogue) for many years but, since
getting a decent PC and into editing, I now find the 570K pixel CCD
(don't know how many are effective) on the JVC produces poor quality
results when recording and editing on to DVD or playing back and
watching on a 32" widescreen. So I've been looking at Sony's PC330 and
TRV80 as my next possible buys.
I'm not *that*...

Sedgewicke
I've finally managed to accumulate some free time to sort out the house, and
wish to convert all my home movies from vhs to dvd (about 300 hrs). I bought
a new computer a few weeks ago, and had a second hdd added to use for
editing the video's (120gb) and a dvd +/- rw.
So, I'm in need of a good guide to explain what I need to buy to get
started, and how to use it all. Online sources, magazines or...

| | PAL60 input into Premier Pro? by
Graham Nichols
A friend has sent a NTSC tape to me to put onto DVD. However (you knew it
was coming, let's face it) when capturing into my Matrox RTX100 Xtreme Pro
capture card on the end of Premier Pro the colour pic has a green bar at the
bottom of the frame. If I switch the system to NTSC capture the frame is
filled but no colour :( I'm guessing that the signal from the VCR is PAL60
rather than true NTSC,...

| | Firewire Card by
gbnews
Hi guys,
I've heard bad things about Firewire cards with the Via chipset and Windows
XP. I have WinXP, can anyone recommend a retailer that supplies a card that
uses a different chip set?
what are you guys using out there?
TIA,

| | Canon GL2 by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi Gorf,
Thank you for your answer. Yes, I know the difference between NTSC/PAL/SECAM
but living in States I need the NTSC one. I know that the resolution should
be better for the PAL version, by the way what's the real resolution can be
supported by this PAL version camcoder named XM2 ? Is it really 625 lines or
just two times less? I know that the most of small camcoders can write only
in...

| | newbie question, please help by
Baba
Hi yall.
The problem is the movie in PAL-DV quality (the default WMM2 setting) takes
13Gb for 1 hour. I need to code it too take a third of that size to fit on
DVD.
Which software can do that? If I take the variable bit-rate coding that WMM2
offers the picture is way too choppy and the file size is drastically lower.
I guess there has to be some middle ground.

Dan T
Hi all, i'm going on holiday to amercica soon - was wondering what the best
way is to charge my camera when i'm over there. I've got a Sony TRV-60
.....and its come with a "AC POWER ADAPTOR" which says "AC IN ~ 100 - 240V
50/60 Hz" So i'm guessing it will be ok to get a UK - US mains adapter, and
plug it straight into this thing right?? Want to make sure before i go
blowing anything...

Really? Ever managed to buy a disk pre-fomatted in NTFS?
Again you seem blistfully unaware that cloning software is capable of
partioning, indeed thats' what it's creating when it does a restore!
Many use cloning software to transfer to a new virgin hardisk and don't call
up any additional software to do it.
It would appear you are not keeping up with the latest software tehcnology!

| | New camcorder suggestions by
Guilbert
I have been asked by a relative to suggest a camcorder for them
to buy, MiniDV at around £400 to £500.
They are looking for something simple to use, and it will be for the
usual family videos, so no need for anything too high tech.
They will want to copy it to VHS tape, and it may be that in the
future they will download to PC and put on to DVD.
Any suggestions, and any good deals on at the...
