| | Annoying DVD recognition problem by
j'arrow@home.net
Hiya
I have a really annoying problem that maybe someone could explain to
me -
I made a video of the kids on holiday and burnt it to DVD - it was
authored using DVD Architect (1.0c - Build 203) and burnt using a
Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105 onto my usual DVD-R (Grade A : Mirror Premium
x4 DVD-R).

| | Tripods and stabilization by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi Tony,
You wrote me:
You don't have to use a tripod to shoot a steady picture (if you indeed
do and have to always use stabilization then you obviously have no
interest or inclination in learning the very basics of shooting video).
...
Now tell me if stabilisation is a good thing.

| | Panasonic DVD camcorder? by
A.
Hi,
I am very sorry for asking this question on the UK list but I have to
give the answe"yes, but or no, don't buy it" as soon as possible and
I can't find the information on the Internet.
On the US Internet site I found a Panasonic VDR-M70 camcorder. A friend
of mine who is in the States now bought for me Panasonic VDR-70PP

Aron \(Pickles\) Y.B. Ben-Zev
Hi All,
I have downloaded movies from my Panasonic NV-DS60 mini-DV digital camera,
and wish to put them up on my website as streaming video . I have downloaded them in Windows Movie Make as .WMV .
If anybody can give constructive advice, pref. off-newsgroup, 'cause I'm not
that good at checking newsgroup messages - I'd really appreciate it.
All the best,
Pickles.

| | Media Size for Canon GL2 or compatibles by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi,
I saw in documentation that Canon GL2 supports only 64 MB size card. But I
also saw that there are many different cards from 512 mb size and more. Does
anybody have an experience working with these cards on GL2 (or compatible
for PAL) camcorders? It would be expensive to get one just to test, although
I could return this one if I don't need it.
The built-in counter promises by the way to...

| | Jessops camcorder lens by
David
Has anyone here any experience of Jessops own wide angled lenses for
camcorders. I am considering buying one if any good. I think you can get
one for around £110? I think this is quite expensive but aware that other
makers are probably much more. I don't want to waste money if results are
not that great.
BTW using it for filming mainly indoors. Thanks for any answers.

| | Large size cards and still images on tapes - answer by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi,
I got the official answer from Canon.
====================
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the GL2.
When recording video to the tape, it will only record at a 640 x 480
resolution. The Memory Card is used only to record Still Images.

| | Routing camera through coaxial cable by
Ivan
I have coaxial cable running all through the house. I can make any
combination of connections I want. Is it possible to have a camera (in my
case a vhs cam) connected to my capture device via the coaxial cable in my
house?
My reason for doing this is simple, to allow distant family to be closer to
the action.

Brucey2
Has anyone used the Avermedia usb device for capturing analogue footage via
s-video and converting to dvd ? It looks an inexpensive way to convert all
my old stuff.

| | Photo by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi,
What is the easiest way to get the photo that have been saved on the tape
instead of media? Can I do that from DV avi file or I need to use a special
tool and run along the tape to do that?
All, what methods are you using to get your pictures back?
Thanks,
Dmitri Shvetsov

| | Cassette in camcoder by
Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi,
Is it good or bad to leave the tape in the camcoder between sessions? I saw
in the manual that we need to take it off every time when we finished, but
how serious is that? Mechanical problems or what?
Thanks,
Dmitri Shvetsov

sausage@sausage.com
Anyone know the answer to this:
Juts got a new machine with the above mentioned capture board in it,
but when I try to cpature anything I get a crackling, static like
interference on the irght hand sound channel. The left channel is
fine.
I have tried multiple cabels to ensure thats not the problem, multiple
input sources, and even different hard drive to save the data to, with
no success.

| | NTSC VHS - DV (hardware recommendations) by
mike
Hello...
I need to convert a bunch of NTSC tapes into DV, eventually to AVI DivX. I'm
in the position where I basically don't have any hardware. By this I mean
the only thing I have is a PC. (2600 Athlon, 400GB HDD space, Geforce
Ti4200).
So I really need to go on a shopping spree, in order to convert these tapes.
So I need:

| | JVC GR-D53 - Great cam & DV VCR by
Martin Smith
Got a JVC GR-D53 today (Tuesday) from AJ Electronics in London. Ordered last
Saturday and paid £349 inc. delivery. Cheapest I could find on the Net.
I think this is a very good unit because, due to the 'analogue in' feature,
it is possible to convert old VHS to digital without a lot of other
expensive kit. The you can edit your old stuff on the PC and record it back
out again to the JVC GR-D50...
