Darn lines on TDK tape/Canon MV750i by chuckonetwo
Hi I was mighty peeved off to see that some of my recordings from the weekend when played back had horizantal thick lines across the screen. it happened twice on the tape, affecting around 15 seconds of footage each time. The horizantal thick lines contained parts of previous footage earlier on the tape. I was using a brand new TDK MiniDV60 tape with my 1 month old Canon MV750i.

Full screen monitoring direct from DV? by Roger Ford
Hi - First let me explain my setup. I use a Canon MV600i, with a bullet camera mounted onto my race car (a Caterham, if anyone's interested). The bullet camera records via the AV input on the Canon, and this works great. When I'm at the race track, I need to be able to review some of the footage. Looking at the tiny camcorder screen doesn't help much, so I need to be able to feed the video to...

Cleaning by Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi, Who and how cleans the optics? I use from the very first moment the UV filter, that's why my main lenses are in excellent condition, but I noticed today, that I need to clean this filter, especially if I watch against the sun - dust, spots... Is it need to take away this filter from the camcoder just to clean it with fabrics? Or it's acceptable to clean it in place just to avoid any dust...

Normal vs. Frame mode by Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi All, What are advantages and/or disadvantages these two shooting modes? I'm speaking about Canon GL2/XM2 camcoder. The Normal Movie mode allows us to shoot in an interlaced mode, as I understand, each frame consists of odd/even lines from the whole frame, as the result the total compression of each frame can be less for the video stream than we write in a whole frame mode. I see in the...

Sony DCR-TRV60 exposure by Wolf Ruland
Hi, I recently got the Sony DCR-TRV60 digital camcorder, and while I am generally quite happy with its features, I have the impression that the automatic exposure is a bit too bright. The slight over-exposure shows especially when shooting yellow areas (like there are many at this time of the year g) - you will get little white spots or patches where there should be yellow. Also, the...

Every nn frame by Dmitri Shvetsov
Hi, I'm answering the question that I asked a couple of weeks ago. The question was like: "If I have a real record can I create a video using every nn frame, for example to play with different variations of sunset, clouds, flowers etc." The answer is pretty simple. Microsoft Movie Maker 2 (I didn't try 1) can increase or decrease the speed of the movie (or some fragment) in 2 times. But funny,...

Panasonic Camcorder problems by Craig Cockburn
Hi I have a panasonic nvds38, 2 years old. Intermittently it records nothing. The tape advances, it says record in the viewfinder and everything looks OK but it's blank on playback - no sound or video. The tape counter on record does not advance when the "blank" problem occurs, but the tape does appear to be advancing. This started as an intermittent problem with recording but has now
