Hi all, I am shorlty to be commissioned to video a semi profesional musical production, From my observations one weak point when these are videod is the audio. The artistes will be using many radio mics through a sound deck etc and my intention was (hopefully) to take a fed from the deck to one of the cameras and record the audio track on there, as well as a video

Replacement model for TRV30 by Steve Franklin
Hi all... I am getting an insurance replacement for my TRV30 and want to make sure the insurance company provides me with like for like. Jessops (UK) are providing the camera and I had a look on their site and observed that the only comparable models they have a TRV50 - Which not only (to my eye) looks cheap and nasty even though feature-wise it's very similiar, but is also a way...

Tekheads are offering "nero express suite 3" at a tenner, or "Nero Express 6.0 CD/DVD Burning Software OEM" at rather less. Can anyone say what the difference is between these please? Is it just OEM/retail packing, or do the components differ? TIA. -- Please use the corrected version of the address below for replies. Replies to the header address will be junked, as will mail from

Sony DVC cassette with chip by Just D
Hi All, Can anybody say what's that? I was looking around in Fry's Electronics and found a few Sony DVC with a microchip with some amount of memory. The price is 1/3-1/2 upper than for a usual DVC. What's that for? Positioning? Some condition storing? Settings? Loops? Statistics? Usability of the tape? What else? Is it used only for some of Sony camcoders or it's a more popular feature than...

dvd linkages by Mike Scott
I'm not sure how to describe this clearly :-( I'm trying to make a dvd containing, say, two movies. I want to be able to offer the user the option of either (a) playing these singly from a menu, returning to the menu when the movie has finished; or (b) specifying a menu item for continuous play, in which case they're to be played continually one after the other until interrupted. This is for...

Premiere and DVGate problem by Virgin
I've been editing Mini DV and DV Cam material from a Sony PD150 camera cnnected by firewire to a Sony Vaio Z600, using DVgate to edit and Windows media encoder to encode video clips for the web. But since I tried to download a free trial version of Adobe Premiere last week, I haven't been able to use DV Gate. The connection is there, and shows 'online' when the firewire is plugged in, but I can't...

Affordable RGB frame grabber by Tim
I don't know if this is the best group for this sort of question. If there is a better one can anyone advise. I am trying to capture a field (or frame) from an RGB video source 625 lines at 50 Hz (though technically 624 non interlaced). I need to capture the raw data and store preferably as a bmp file so it had had no processing to reduce quality for a machine vision application. Does anyone...

Importing *.mov files into Premiere Pro by Scott Jones
I'm trying to import Quicktime *.mov files generated by a Nikon Coolpix 5400 digital camera into premiere pro but PP doesn't seem to support that file type, even though the literature would suggest that it does allow files of that type to be imported. The camera creates very good time lapse clips which I would like to incorporate into some of my work. If there is no way that Premiere will...

PCI Express by David
Thinking of buying a new PC and want near real time performance with video. Using Vegas quite happily and don't want to change to premiere pro although it has much better hardware support. I believe the new PCI Express setup coming soon is going to be a major step and allow video editors a choice of running preferred software without compromise. Is it advisable to wait? Are systems available...

What am I doing wrong here ? by steve Wilcox
Hi Guys and gals - after a few months playing around with Adobe Premiere I've finally invested in a DVD burner, and set out to transfer some of my DV tapes to DVD. I captured ( from a Panasonic NVDS65B ) into Premiere via firewire ( no dropped frames ), edited the footage into something close to what I wanted, then exported the finished movie as an MPEG2 through Canopus's Procoder - things are...

Or is there really no difference between any of the well known brands (Sony,Panasonic, JVC etc) Cant believe I paid £9.99 for two 60 min tapes !! Although it was Dixons ,so probably shouldnt be too surprised

Question on Edit Studio 4 by jmc
Ok, so I've downloaded this software, and am using the trial. How do I edit the clips themselves, before putting them together into a movie? I may be dense, but I simply don't see how I can, say, split the video like WMM2 allows me to do, so I can crop stuff out of my videos. Any help appreciated! jmc

DVD with sub titles option by webmaster
Greetings, I want to burn some DVD's, 12 minute charity video, with the option for subtitles to be displayed, I have already burnt video cassettes and DVD's with the film and some with sub titles, but would like to have the option for the viewer to choose sub titles if they wished on DVD. I have used MS movie maker 2 initially, but have got Premiere 6.5 to learn. Any help would be appreciated.
