| | Editing DVD recording questions by
divoch
I am trialing a VideoRemaker . I would like to edit video from the DVD+RW which I recorded from TV. When I ADD video files to the VideoRemaker only two "supported files" VTS_01.IFO and VIDEO_TS.IFO from those in VIDEO_TS folder get displayed .
First, I do not know which one to edit? They seem to have the same information?
Second, what happens with other files that are in VIDEO_TS folder?...

| | Simple to use free or inexpensive remaking software? by
divoch
"All" I want to do is a simple editing of DVDs that I record from TV on my
new Panasonic DVD recorder and then burning new DVD after edit. Recorder can
record and read both +RW and -RW discs (in addition to RAM). By a simple
editing I mean just deleting some extra recorded video at the start and end
of a timer recorded program. If I could simply delete adverts then that
would be an...

| | Which cheap and easy editing software? by
Robin Faichney
I have a Fuji E900 still camera and I've just started experimenting
with "movie mode" on it. It records AVI, apparently (haven't even
uploaded a file to the PC yet). I'd like to be able to edit the
"movies" I produce in a very basic way: cut out sections and, ideally,
make a nice join, eg fade in/out instead of jump. What software can I
get to do this that's cheap and easy to use? I don't want...

| | What does it mean when a HDTV...? by
Arny Krueger
What does it mean when a HDTV claims to support 1080i, but can only display
768 vertical lines?
My own thinking says some interpolation is going on and the 1080i spec may
be dubious.

| | 2nd monitor takeover by
Trevor[_2_]
When ever I do anything remotely video orientated e.g. burn a dvd, play tv,
play a video, my second monitor is always 'taken over' and I cant get to my
emails until its finished. Is there a way of preventing this?

| | Which portable recorder by
Wally
I'd appreciate some suggestions for portable video recorders that have the
following features...
Long recording time on battery - up to 8 hours if possible.
Fairly compact, say 4" x 3" x 1".
Robust.
AV-in from a suitable bullet camera.
Easy transfer to PC.
It will be used for recording the proceedings during a combat simulation

| | problems with virtualdub and editstudio by
Mike Scott
I'm using editstudio (an old version, 4.1.5) to make a video including
clips from a moving vehicle on a fairground. I'm trying to use
virtualdub/deshaker as a preprocessor to remove the camera shake. Should
be easy, but no.......
Firstly, virtualdub complains it can't initialize the output codec. Same
for all of them, except uncompressed. I haven't a clue where to look for...

| | Rotating an AVI Video by
Geoff Lane
I've got a couple of AVI videos taken on my Fuji Finepix camera, they
were taken in portrait mode position so obviously appear sideways when
viewed on my computer.
Is there any way I can rotate this 90 degrees, I cannot find this
facility in any of the playback programs I have.

| | any way to filter or add a color in an avi file? by
Mario
Hello,
is there any software that lets me filter out blues or add reds in an
avi file?
I need it because as you know avi videos taken with compact photo
camera are rich in blues and lack reds
Please let me know if you know any software that can do that

| | "Grey mist" start to compressed files. by
conkersack@googlemail.com
Hello,
Following on from my previous thread...
I can make H.264 and Theora files in VLC by exporting the MovieMaker
file to a WMV file and then using this as the source for VLC (but
obviously this isn't an optimal process, hence my previous post), but
on these files, the start of the video emerges from a grey mist rather
than as a 'proper' starting point.

| | VLC can't play MovieMaker AVIs. by
conkersack@googlemail.com
Hello,
I have a copy of VLC which I want to use to convert MovieMaker AVIs
into H.264 and Theora files, but, VLC wont read the MM AVIs. Does
anyone know why?
Whilst I'm here, does anyone know what A&V codecs are used in MM AVIs?
Lastly, is there any other way of converting MM AVIs to H.264 and
Theora files?

| | DV-AVI plays with poor detail and wrong colours by
s.fowler@qub.ac.uk
Hi,
I recently had a Standard 8 cine film transferred onto miniDV tape and
from there into my computer using the copy of Windows Movie Maker that
came with my computer. I used the Digital Device format (DV-AVI)
Subsequently, when I tried using Media Player v11 or RealPlayer v10.5
to view the avi file, the quality was very poor with little detail and
lots of red and green colour in all the...

| | Sony VX9000 Sound fault by
Alan S.
My trusty Sony VX9000 camera has decided to stop recording sound.
Checking the tapes on a deck shows no sign of the 'carrier', in 16bit or
12bit.
Has anyone else had this problem, and corrected it? Failing that, can
anyone reccommend a repair facility in the UK?
If you can help, thanks.

| | Digital TVs and subtitles? by
Alan Holmes
Found a brilliant offer in Tescos for a digital TV, when I got it home and
set it up, I tried to get to the teletext and show the subtitles as I'm a
bit hard of hearing, on the present TV the subtitles are on page 888, but
putting that number into the Dig TV produced some rubbish, on trying to
select subtitles using the set up procedure, prompted a message telling me
to press a button on the set...

| | AV camcorder pinout quesion. by
Phone Box
Hi,
I realize this is a digital video group but I hope you can answer this
analogue camcorder question. My daughter purchased a Ferguson FC31 analogue
camcorder from a car boot sale. It has an AV connector on the back and I'm
trying to understand the pinout. I've pretty much answered my own question
but I'm not 100% sure if the connector is a 8 pin mini din, the pinouts are
an analogue...

| | Storage for CDs and DVDs by
Alan Holmes
Many years ago when 5 1/4in floppy discs were in fashion, you could get
storage draws to keep them in, I now have a large collection of both CDs and
DVDs and I'd like to find the same sort of storage facilities.
So, is there such a thing, and where will I buy it?
