Dee
Is there any reason why I can't simply copy an avi file to a DVD as a data
copy? (Just to back it up). For some reason it tells me it can't be done but
I don't know whether it's my DVD writer that's playing up or not

I love new technology, but the talk of this coming new Sony SHV (Super
High Vision) system is making me sick, having only recently spent
several hundred pounds on a new HD ready TV. Apparently this new super
high vision format makes HD look pale. Here I am, twisting my
handkerchief waiting anxiously for HD transmissions to start so I can
at last enjoy what this new TV can do, and now it's already...

| | Hi8 to DVD via Winnov card by
Blonks
Maybe someone can help me (V Green?)
I have a Winnov videum 1000Av in my PC and want to capture 90min PAL
Hi8 tapes to hard disk, then tidy up in PE3 and burn to DVD.
After reading a recent post it looks like I will have to capture in
4Gb chunks due to the driver limitations.
I have the following questions...

| | Connecting to PC & TV by
spokes
Forgive an abject newbie query, but I just bought my first ever camcorder
(believe it) off ebay and it came with no cables or conectors...what do I
need to connect it to my tv and pc? (For the tele I'd rather use the front
din-type sockets than scart, just for ease - the scarts are round the back,
hard to get to, and otherwise occupied.) Are there 'one size fits all'
cables, or do they vary?...

net
maybe someone with experience of Winnov Videum 1000 AV cards can help me...
I have a PC based on a an AMD 1.2G cpu with 1Gb ram on a Biostar motherboard
with Via chips, and windows xp sp2. During capture this card is dropping
frames like crazy, I'm capturing PAL video using the composite port. I've
found the only way to get a decent recording is to capture at 160x120 (tiny
window) at 15 frames...

| | Synchronizing video streams by
Just D
All,
What's the easiest way to sync a few video/audio streams in the editor? I
don't think I can do that automatically in Vegas, but it would be very
interesting if any non-pro editor can do that.
Here is the idea. We have a few video camcorders writing the same event.
When I grab the footage from all camcorders I get a few sets of AVI files in
DV format. Then I use the program from Paul to...

| | Camcorder : DVD v HDD by
a@aol.com
I have a 12 year old Hi-8 Sony camcorder and wish to upgrade to a
newer model. I have searched the web but cannot find good camcorder
review sites or talk about pro and cons of the media types.
Can anyone help please? Incedently I quite like the Sony SR72 HDD but
have not seen a review of it yet. Have seen some US reviews but the
model numbers look different to UK so am not too sure...

| | Convert clip to play on old version of Quicktime by
Jon
Ladies and gentlemen,
Sorry for the intrusion, but I'm up against it time wise.
I need to get a clip I have converted into a satiable format to be
played by a very old version of quicktime (3.something)
I have the clip source in .wmv and .mov. I think it's been encoded using
something called H.264

| | Converting PC television recordings to Apple Quicktime by
Wallace
I want to take a Windows Media Player television recording and make it
readable on a Macintosh computer running Quicktime.
Can I convert it to MPEG2 PAL and then write it to a DVD R disc or is life
more complex than that? I have Digital Media Converter on my computer to do
the conversion.

| | Camcorder exposure wrong by
housetrained
Hi,
my friend's camcorder has stopped exposing correctly. It is just always
overexposed and manual and auto has no effect.
Before I suggest a shop repair, can anyone offer an idea of what is wrong?
TIA

| | Can't download driver for Samsung VP-D70 camcorder. by
treenoakio@googlemail.com
Hi,
I've been trying to download the driver and software files for this VP-
D70 camcorder from the Samsung Gobal Download site. Every time I try,
the zip files are corrupted. I emailed support who said they'd
escalate the query but nothing came of it yet. I've tried getting
these files from Samsung by various web routes but always end up at
the same place, with the same effect. Can anyone suggest...
