| | can virtuoso mc-500 play dvd file system? by
tommy
I was looking at the virtuoso mc-500 and am planning on buying it or
something similar but I can't seem to find whether it can play a DVD
file system from a hard disk. Does anyone have any experience with
this unit that could answer?
Cheers.

| | DVD±RW Region Free Recorders? by
John
Hi!
The prices for DVD±RW Recorders now seem to be pretty low and I am
thinking of adding one to my computer.
I know that the burning speeds are still pretty poor at 16x and only
4x for +RW/-RW re-writing and DVD+R DL Double Layer burning, however
that is okay to make do with for a year or so until the speeds
increase. I can always leave my system working while I have a bath or
watch TV.

| | DV drivers by
tg
I know there are several DV drivers out there for using the DV from a
camcorder or such in webcam software, but I'd like to find a driver without
the 'activation' bull**** that so many software companies are now using.
This activation thing limits the driver to one computer which is a real ****
off. I don't mind paying for a driver but does anyone know of a DV driver
that doesn't need activation?

Bob Edwards
I'm thinking of buying this DV camcorder. Does anyone have any good or bad
experiences with it or any advice regarding an alternative (better) model at
about the same price of £350?
Thanks
Bob

| | Canon Pixma IP4000 Any Good? by
Bryan Bellis
Looking at buying a Canon Pixma IP4000, and am particularly interested
in quality of photo print, CD/DVD printing, and how good/useful the
bottom tray is for loading A4 paper, as where I have intend to place
the printer using a top loader would be difficult.
I'd much appreciate comments from owners of this printer please.

Mr Digital
I have recently bought a new Toshiba RDXS32 DVD recorder & the remote
control for this is also able to control the channel changing function of
digiboxes. Now my Sky Digital box is the Pace DS430N but i have had no luck
in obtaining a correct code for this.
I have contacted both Pace & Toshiba who are unale to help & much searching
the net has also drawn a blank.
Anyone here who has the...

| | black frames / flickering by
KW_UK
Hi,
for some reason, any footage i download from the internet appears to have
frames missing, and plays back flickering with black frames.
If i play the clips in vlc player though the play back is fine. Also, clips
i have captured myself via firewire are fine...
any ideas?

| | Sky, DVD recorder, TV and scart sockets by
Paul Blarmy
Have just bought a DVD recorder and am having problems - wonder if anyone
on any of these groups can help.
Hitachi TV with two scart sockets
Amstrad Sky Digibox with two scart sockets
Liteon 5005 DVD Recorder with two scart sockets
Sky seems to need to go into AV1 on TV as that is the best picture. DVD
into AV2 is OK except for having to switch to AV2 manually due to type of
scart lead...

| | 'Rewinding' video effect by
DG
My son, for his college work, wants to have a short clip look like video
being rewound with picture breakup reminiscent of older VHS players (modern
VCRs seem to be able to REW/FF without the same loss of quality).
Reversing the clip is no problem.
Has anyone got any ideas about a filter/effect that might create the desired
output?
Using Premiere Pro 1.5.

| | VOB = MPEG2 by
Just D.
Maybe I'm crazy. I tried to import the MPEG2 stream from VOB file using Sony
Vegas Movie Studio 4.0. It was terribly slowly and finally I got MPG file
with a little bit less size. When I tested this file I found that it doesn't
have any audio stream. Funny. I imported the VOB file into Studio again and
called the properties of this file. Only video stream, no audio at all. The
next idea was...

| | Freeview by
Mr Digital
In recent months i have seen a freeview box demonstrated on the QVC shopping
channel. When they showed the channel menu it displayed UK Gold as one of
them. As far as i am aware this STB was not also combined with whe ability
for Top Up TV so therefore how did UK Gold appear in the listings when i
cannot receive it here.

| | Minor problem with Firewire capture by
Fred
Hi,
I have recently bought a Panasonic NV-GS11 Digital Camcorder and have
noticed that when playing back into my PC over Firewire, I get some popping
noises if there is a gap on the tape between recorded scenes. I do not get
this problem if I play the tape over the same Firewire using a neighbour's
camcorder (an earlier Panasonic model).
Is this fairly normal, or is it likely that I can...

Merlin
I have just ordered a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T which comes
with a 256mb AtiRadeon 9600XT VIVO DVI and Pinnicle Studio
9SE & firewire.
Now here is my problem. Yesterday while in Jessops I was told
that I would not be able to copy my Hi8 video tapes direct from
my Sony TRV46E direct into the PC without buying Pinnacle
studio AV/DV V.9 for £129.
Is he correct ?
The camera has a A / V connecting...

| | Tripod advice needed by
jmc
I'm not happy with my current (dirt cheap) tripod (physically it's
fine, but the platform doesn't sit level), and looking for a new one.
I know nothing, really about tripods.
I don't use one much, so I don't want to spend a lot of money. It
needs to be something that works equally well with my digital camera
(Nikon Coolpix 8700) as well as my Sony Handicam (DCR-HC20).
At this point, I'm...
