Which video camera to buy? by corlioni1976
Hi All I want to buy a video camera, but dont know much about them. The last one I used, used a vhs tape. I want one that can connect to my TV/video and PC using the USB port ( not firewire, as I dont want to buy extra hardware for my computer). I dont mind how long it takes to copy to the computer. I do not want memory cards as the media storage. I prefer the cassettes as they are...

Panasonic NV-GS40 by Mat
Hi, I having some problems using this camera on Windows XP. All used to work well and in the past I've used Adobe Premier on XP to capture and edit video. However, connected the camera up now and adobe (and Vegas) refuses to acknowledge its presence. However the camera is listed in the Scanners and Cameras section of the control panel, and I can capture 'photo' here.

MPEG1 vs. MPEG2 by Just D.
I'm just wondering if anybody uses MPEG1 for his movies or MPEG2 only? What are the cases where using of MPEG1 is reasonable? Or this standard is obsolete and supported only for compatibility and readability of old media? Dmitri.

Vegas and audio by Just D.
Hi All, Did anybody see that Vegas can't read the audio stream from the movie created in another editor? It tries to create a proxy and finally reports something like: "the audio stream is not consistent and will be truncated by the point ..." That's very strange because I didn't change significantly anything, the basic audio stream is takes from the camcorder and I didn't recode it, it's...

Sony Digital 8 camcoder - i.LINK cable? by Mile Blenton
Hello group! I have a Sony DCR-TRV255E digital 8 camcoder and a problem that's driving my crazy... I'm sort of a begginer when it comes to digital video, and when I try to record a VCD format CD from my recorded video directly from camera (using sony's application that comes in package with camera) over the USB cable

Vegas Movie Studio 4.0 + DVD Architect by Just D.
I got finally the box today and have already tested it. The first emotion is - it's very good, but poor comparing to Vegas 5 (parent full version), I think I will upgrade a little bit later to this full version. Anyway the money are not lost. The video quality is significantly better than after all editors that I have tested before. The DVD Architect is able to change the stream and show if...

DV Camcorder Review Sites by Bryan Bellis
When building up to buying my first digital camera I found these two review sites invaluable in helping me form an opinion: http://www.megapixel.net http://www.steves-digicams.com Are there any similar sites that focus on DV Camcorders please? --

Interpolating video by Mark W
Is there a simple process I can run on an AVI or MPG file that will effectively increase the resolution of the picture by interpolation or some other means? I expect the results would be interesting to look at in an arty kind of way.

Sony camcorder batteries by Sam
I have a Sony DCR-PC3 DV camcorder that uses the S-series batteries. I'm using a couple NP-FS21 that are not supposed to have any memory effect and apparently use some kind of software to communicate with the camera to calculate the amount of battery life left. When I load a freshly charged battery the camera tells me I have 120 minutes battery time left. Within about 15 mins that's down to just...

Vegas 5 vs. Adobe Permier by Just D.
I compared both trials trying to understand which one I like. I think I like Vegas 5 much more. First - Vegas 5 writes the stream into separate files. When I just tried Vegas 5 for a very first time I was thinking that this is a disadvantage, but later I found it very helpful and convenient. We just delete unrequired fragments and forget about them. We can rename, reorder as easy as we just...

Tony, I know that you like Vegas 5...) I see this term in the manual - "Number of video tracks", what does it means? Is it a number of tracks that can be rendered over other others to be shown at the same time like a multilayer video |---------------------------| |-------------|

audio synchronisation by anthonyberet
I have a few .avi files which are not well synchronised (audio to video). I am aware that I can process the files using virtualdub and and some other software to re-synch them. However, I would like to be able to do this on the fly, during playback, and not alter the files. I have tried various media players, some of which allow me to offset the audio synch by a number of seconds, but I have to...

Opinions regarding JVC GR-D23 by Fred
I am thinking about buying a JVC GR-D23 and wondered if anyone had any experience of these. In particular can you hear the main motor, zoom motor etc significantly on the recording? My current old analog camcorder suffers from this quite badly, and it's annoying. Also if you use the Firewire out to transfer to PC will the video be split at each time break? I seem to remember reading...

Small camcorder for low light by Jay
Hi, Can anyone recommend a small camcorder that isn't too bad in low(ish) light conditions? Cost isn't too important but I'd like to aim for £1000. It's for some outdoor sporting events where the lighting isn't too great. I need something that will focus and stabilize the image in these conditions. Is there software around that can stabilize the image in post processing? That would be ok...

camcorder not recognized on XP by willy
Hi, I've got a Canon MV590 camcorder and recently I've bought a Hercules DV Action! DVD Edition card so I could start editing my recordings (I didn't have a firewire connection on my PC). However my camcorder doesn't get recognized by XP. The installation of the card succeeded though. I suppose when I connect my camcorder, that I should see some kind of new drive or so? Any idea what could be...
