| | Sky, DVD recorder, TV and scart sockets by
Paul Blarmy
Have just bought a DVD recorder and am having problems - wonder if anyone
on any of these groups can help.
Hitachi TV with two scart sockets
Amstrad Sky Digibox with two scart sockets
Liteon 5005 DVD Recorder with two scart sockets
Sky seems to need to go into AV1 on TV as that is the best picture. DVD
into AV2 is OK except for having to switch to AV2 manually due to type of
scart lead...

| | 'Rewinding' video effect by
DG
My son, for his college work, wants to have a short clip look like video
being rewound with picture breakup reminiscent of older VHS players (modern
VCRs seem to be able to REW/FF without the same loss of quality).
Reversing the clip is no problem.
Has anyone got any ideas about a filter/effect that might create the desired
output?
Using Premiere Pro 1.5.

| | VOB = MPEG2 by
Just D.
Maybe I'm crazy. I tried to import the MPEG2 stream from VOB file using Sony
Vegas Movie Studio 4.0. It was terribly slowly and finally I got MPG file
with a little bit less size. When I tested this file I found that it doesn't
have any audio stream. Funny. I imported the VOB file into Studio again and
called the properties of this file. Only video stream, no audio at all. The
next idea was...

| | Freeview by
Mr Digital
In recent months i have seen a freeview box demonstrated on the QVC shopping
channel. When they showed the channel menu it displayed UK Gold as one of
them. As far as i am aware this STB was not also combined with whe ability
for Top Up TV so therefore how did UK Gold appear in the listings when i
cannot receive it here.

| | Minor problem with Firewire capture by
Fred
Hi,
I have recently bought a Panasonic NV-GS11 Digital Camcorder and have
noticed that when playing back into my PC over Firewire, I get some popping
noises if there is a gap on the tape between recorded scenes. I do not get
this problem if I play the tape over the same Firewire using a neighbour's
camcorder (an earlier Panasonic model).
Is this fairly normal, or is it likely that I can...

| | Hi8 to DVD by
Merlin
I have just ordered a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T which comes
with a 256mb AtiRadeon 9600XT VIVO DVI and Pinnicle Studio
9SE & firewire.
Now here is my problem. Yesterday while in Jessops I was told
that I would not be able to copy my Hi8 video tapes direct from
my Sony TRV46E direct into the PC without buying Pinnacle
studio AV/DV V.9 for £129.
Is he correct ?
The camera has a A / V connecting...

| | Tripod advice needed by
jmc
I'm not happy with my current (dirt cheap) tripod (physically it's
fine, but the platform doesn't sit level), and looking for a new one.
I know nothing, really about tripods.
I don't use one much, so I don't want to spend a lot of money. It
needs to be something that works equally well with my digital camera
(Nikon Coolpix 8700) as well as my Sony Handicam (DCR-HC20).
At this point, I'm...

| | Dedicated site for Sony camcorder users ? by
Malcolm Stewart
Does anyone know of a bulletin board, website or other dedicated group for
Sony Handicam / camcorder users? I've found one for the Panasonic 3CCD
range, but as I own Sony gear, I'd prefer (need ?) a Sony dedicated one.
Many thanks

Have approx 25 digital camcorders, psus, batteries etc, some high quality
items. These come direct from the broker that I buy laptops from.No time to
mess about with them but some guaranteed to be fine or needing minor
fixes, and others will be a great source of spares.Get these on a regular
basis and it would be handy if someone could take them likewise. If anyone
has a serious interest I'll find the...

| | AVI to TV Format by
Geoff Lane
Anyone suggest any decent programs for converting AVI files into a
format suitable for viewing on a UK TV.
I've tried the freebie version of DIKO and was told my frame rate was
not supported in the free version, I haven't any idea about frame
rate, it was just a movie file created by my Fuji finepic camera.

| | Video camera to PC by
Mike
I want to be able to connect my digital video camera to my PC to
download and edit my films. The camera is a Canon MVX150i & will connect
via an IEEE 1394 (I assume this is firewire). Any recommendations as to
which software I can use and whether I require a special card over an
ordinary firewire card. As you can see, I'm a bit of a newbie to this!
Any help most appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike

I found this great little site
I found this great little site. I signed up two weeks ago and got 2 Disney tickets and this week they are sending me 2 Universal Studios tickets. Here's the link http://66.219.102.40/ and by the way I am a real person, this is my real email address. I'm not a spammer and didn't appreciate the nasty email I got last time I tried to post this link.
Thanks,...

| | One Channel Problem by
Geoff Lane
I've got a Netgem freeview box, it is connected to a very ordinary
aerial in my loft so is not subject to wind.
My signal is from Crystal Palace and I am located in NW London.
I've had the freeview box for about 4 months now, channel reception
has been fine, signal strength only shows around 36% to 40% but signal
quality is always good.
During the last couple of days I seem to have lost...

| | Amateur filming by
dreamer
I like to hear from someone who does indie or amateur filming in the
uk, as I have a really great film script to sell. Is it poss. to film
good videos approaching cinema quality with amateur gadgets since the
hitech gear has moved up a notch or two from the old days? I haven't
got that gear thats why i'm hoping to get connected with a group of
amateur film maker's in the uk.
Ta, for all ideas...

Looking for an easy, cheap solution to printing directly onto CDs and DVDs.
Small, domestic volume, private use only....
Seems to come down to Epson R200 or a TDK standalone. Anyone had any
experience or can they point me in any other directions ?
