FAO Tony Morgan - MiniDV Tapes by John
Tony. Hi. Sorry to bring this subject up again but I had a couple more question. I know that you like the Sony Excellence and Premium tapes a lot. I just wondered though if you or anyone else has used the Panasonic Master Quality or Professional tapes and what you think of those? What length of tape do you usually buy and does it matter? Would a 60 min tape be better quality than an 83 min...

Can Sony DCRHC40ES do 4:3 as well as 16:9? by John D.
Hi, I'm looking at buying a digital camcorder to replace and improve upon my Canon UC9 Hi8. The Sony DCRHC40ES looks promising at around £420, especially as it apparently does true 16:9 widescreen (presumably this means anamorphic widescreen instead of letterboxing). However, it is not clear to me from the blurb whether it is capable of

editing MPEG 1 by Chris
Hi, what would be good software to edit TV recordings in MPEG 1 HQ? I looked at Adobe Premier but I'm looking for something to just edit out clips I don't want to reduce file size without changing anything else. Thanks, Chris.

Soldier Blue seen on Pal.com, but which by Bryan Bellis
I see at long last Soldier Blue is shown as coming for DVD release on 11th July 2005, Region 2. I wonder which version, how much will be cut. I don't suppose anyone here knows this far in advance what's intended? http://tinyurl.com/6r7xm It's not showing as coming up for release at PlayUSA at all yet.

I use Premiere 6.5 with DVDit! and have created 2 films on a DVD+R Computer recorder. When viewing the disc in the PC, I see 2 films, as intended. In the videorecorder/player (Philips) I can see only one film. Any explanation? Thanks and happy Xmas shopping Fadel

Newbie help - which format? by Mark Epps
Guys (and gals?), Just after a bit of basic advice before I go a spend a bit of time on the PC. I have a digital video camera, and I use Windows Movie Maker to capture it to my PC. When I come to actually save my 'movie' I am given a number of options. I want to play them back on my PC, but I also plan to save them to DVD and

Canopus ADVC100 capture problem by tg
Firstly, this video capture device is exellent, the recordings are superb but the resultant file sizes are ENORMOUS. Capturing at DV-AVI level, - 720x586 pixels, 25fps PAL I never have any trouble, but if I try to capture at a lower resolution the computer locks up and is completely jammed without a forced restart. I can't get this unit to capture reliably at any lower resolution, not matter what...

Sony camcorder White Balance "HOLD" ? by Malcolm Stewart
I've read and re-read what the manual says for this menu option* on my camcorders, but I still don't get it! (TRV22 & TRV60) (I've no problem with what I guess is a similar feature on my EOS10D, but then when I think about it, I'm not so sure...) Can anyone advise how to use the feature, and when? Does it effectively disable the AWB and stay fixed on what the camera last saw? If so, how...

[FW] : Possibly of interest Mon-Tues, London : `PD.ZILLA` seminar, install & use open source linux VJ/DJ software by Neil Smith [MVP Digital Media]
Maybe somebody might be about and want to take a look at this - pre-reg today I guess cause it starts Monday. Hilights appear to include Linux/Fedora installfest, and "Aymeric will demonstrate how to create abstract video from noise, how to load Quicktime video clips from the hard drive, and how to use filters to create video effects" FYI
