| | Nero 6 and Windows XP SP2 by
Tony Morgan
For those using Nero for various CD/DVD video burning, you might like to
be reminded of:
Versions of Nero will not work properly if Windows XP SP2 is installed.
Nero have a fix (actually a complete re-installation) at their website.
For the full version of Nero 6 this runs out at 29MB.

| | Playing WMV files on DVD Players # Playing DVDs on Windows PC by
CJB
Why is it that movie DVDs or CDs recorded using a basic DVD Recorder
cannot be played on a PC running say Windows XP?
And why is it that movie files such as MPG, AVI or WMA recorded onto
CDs by a PC cannot be played on a DVD player?
The above may be possible using special conversion software, but all I
want to do is :
1/ play an ordinary DVD on my PC, and

Mike Scott
Being a cautious type, I tend to give out vendor-specific email
addresses, so I can tell who might be misusing them. (I also *always*
tick the 'don't contact me' boxes :-) ) I've now had some attempted
spam from addressed to the 'pinnacle' email
addy here. It didn't get through, as it failed various spam checks; not
the point though. Far be it from me to...

| | NeroVision Express 3 and export to arbitrary avi? by
Matej Artac
Hello,
I need a big sanity check here. You see, I've been using NeroVision Express
2 to do basic edits to clips in different formats and export them into an
avi format, say, with a DivX codec.
Now, the other day I upgraded the thing to the latest NeroVision Express 3,
do what I usually do, click Export... and see that the combo box for Video
compressor has been disabled. And locked to No...

| | Big Ones by
spamfrog
Up until now I have only been capturing around 10- 20 minutes of DV at a
time for editing with Pinnacle Studio 8.
I now have a better PC which came with Studio 9 SE and I want to capture a 1
hour piece for burning to DVD in order to share it with friends.
I was wondering if anyone else had been doing, what I consider to be, big
captures.

| | Best Divx Player : Yamada DVX6700 or Toshiba SD254 by
ppravier@yahoo.fr
Hi,
I am tempted by a cheap yet good Divx Player for my home.
I hesitate between three models available at pixmania :
Yamada DVX6700 for 42£
Toshiba SD245 for 55£
H&B DX-3220 for 53£
Looking at the technical characteristics it is difficult to choose.

| | wtd: AC power adapter for Sony VX1000E camcorder by
tg
has anybody out there got a an AC power adaptor to sell for a Sony
DCR-VX1000E camcorder? The manual says this camera takes an AC-V615 unit
with a DK-715 connecting cord. I've tried ebay with no luck. If there are
alternate power adaptors out there that will work I'd be interested in that
too. TIA.

| | Which camcorder media format should I choose? by
corlioni1976
Hi All,
I'm trying to produce a short list of 5 camcorders. I would like to choose
from this list of the one I want to buy. I have done alot of research but
what I'm stuck on is deciding on the storage media.
The 8cm DVDs sound good but can you rerecord on them once the footage has
been transferred to PC/video/normal DVD disc? How many times can this be
done and where can I get them from in...

| | Can Sony DCRHC40ES do 4:3 as well as 16:9? by
jrdnews@hotmail.co.uk
Hi,
I'm looking at buying a digital camcorder to replace and improve upon
my Canon UC9 Hi8.
The Sony DCRHC40ES looks promising at around £420, especially as it
apparently does true 16:9 widescreen (like a number of the other DCRHC
models). I'm assuming that this means anamorphic widescreen instead of
letterboxing.

Broons Bane
Hi there.
(I'm new to this stuff)
I have a video camera capable of outputting to svideo or firewire and I want
to do video editing on my pc.
My pc has an svideo port, but not firewire. Should I buy a firewire card or
will I be able to download my digital video tapes to the pc using svideo?

| | wireless audio receiver by
tg
I have a shure EC11 belt pack with lavalier mic that I intend to use during
filming. My question is, is the Shure VP3 the only portable receiver that
can be used with the EC11? If it's possible to buy a cheaper receiver I'd
rather do that, even though shure stuff is good. Thanks for any advice.
