I have just purchased an additional 160G ATA internal hard drive for capturing AV files onto. I was told by the nice man in PC World that I would need SP2 (I don't have SP1 installed) in order for my PC to operate the new drive. Sony have just announced new DVD camcorders that support dolby digital 5.1 surround sound recording. Let's be honest, camcorders have enough problem seperating Stereo with the inbuilt mics, how do they propose to record 5.1?

Sony have had a few press releases about their new 2005 camcorders, a few of which have "true widescreen". I wonder does that mean last years HC40 dosn't "truly" have widescreen? I would like to get a 16:9 camcorder and expect last years HC40 to come down in price after the release of the HC39e and HC42e, but whats' the point if the HC40 isn't "truly" widescreen?

I've had an initail attempt at converting AVI movie files (Produced by my Fuji FinePix camera) using TMPGEnc as recommended by someone within a thread on this forum. At the moment it will accept the AVI files as an AUDIO file but states it cannot open or format not supported when I select the same file as a Video Format. Are there any forums that deal with this particular program.
