Recording from Freeview by Mike Saunders
I want to record/replay Freeview TV but also keep/edit a small no of these recordings (+ some old VHS tapes ) before making up new DVD's for playing on the TV. At present I have no equipment to any of this but think it would be best to use my PC for the editing phase Ideally I would like to record using a HDD in a freeview box and then connect this to the PC directly for the feed but is this...

Tripods and tele / wide-angle adapters by Wally
I've just bought my first camcorder (on eBay). It's a Panasonic NV-GS5B, which looks to have the sort of features I'm after (in the main, PAL, DV-in, mic-in, various manual overrides). It should arrive next week. What are folks' opnions on this unit? A mate has the GS3, and that seems pretty good to my newbie's eye - enough to influence my decision in going for the GS5. (I paid 180 quid +post,...

Panasonic NV-DS55B or Canon MV750i? by Daz N
Hi, I have a Panasonic NV-DS55B camcorder that has developed a slight fault, when you load tapes every now-and-then it spins the reel fast, beeps a few times and then ejects the tape, although this is an intermittent fault it always happens at that critical moment! I decided to buy a new camcorder and went for the Canon MV750i, first I couldn't believe how cheap camcorders are these days,...

Converting tapes to DVDs by ivan
My sister-in-law (who has many video tapes) recently decided to purchase a Bush VCR/DVD recorder combo, her logic being that she could then copy all of her existing video collection onto a shiny new DVD's, thus solving her storage problems. However it wasn't to be, as every time she inserts a pre-recorded tape in an attempt to produce a DVD back up, a pop up message appears telling her that this...

MPEGs and their quality levels by corlioni1976
Hi all, Can some one tell me the different mpeg levels and the qualities they produce. At the moment I am transferring my movies from my JVCDX77 and the quality doesn't look too good. The movie size is 320 by 240. When I convert the movies to VCD 1 using Nero 6 on a friends computer(I only have a CDRW at the moment cant afford a DVD writer yet) and play back on my DVD player I get a blocky...

Sony TRV60. by Mr Digital
I have a hardly used Sony TRV60 digital camcorder for sale. It is in mint condition & is supplied with an FM70 & a FM90 battery along with the external zoom microphone & a nice carry case. All items that were supplied in the box are also included. I am asking £375 for it if interested. Reason for the sale is that it just never gets used.

s-veo from pc to tv by troubleinstore
As we will be moving later this year, hopefully, we have started packing. The DVD layer was one of the first items to be packed away. Having a laptop and a desktop pc both with s-video connectors on, I purchased a s-video lead so that i could connect either to the tv and watch a dvd. The problem is, that I only get a black & white piceture on the tv. Is this right ? Not having a s-video connector...

Downloads from Pinnacle by Wally
Does anyone else have problems downloading software from the Pinnacle web site or FTP server (www.pinnaclesys.de)? I can't get past the log in page when I try to download from the web site - it times out after about 5 minutes, and connecting to the FTP server gives me a blank window - I'm connected, but no files or folders are listed (anonymous login, passive mode). Also, is Pinnacle's support...

Low cost video camera any advice by Headrush Films UK
We need to purchase a low cost small MiniDV Camcorder, we don't need loads of bells & whisles, and certainly not digital zoom and memory stick rubbish, what would be ideal is a 3chip camera with quite good low light facilities. and small size. we don't need to firewire back to the camera as we have DV decks of our edit equipment so the camera would not even be connected to a computer, the...

eProformance DVD -R 4x speed not recognised by Malcolm Stewart
Bought a 10 pack cakebox of the above, and they are simply not recognised by my NEC DVD burner. It's not my burner as I have burnt to many other types, and since the eProformance problems, I've used Philips 8x DVD -R with total success. Am still awaiting a response to my query email from eProformance... If anyone can burn them successfully, and would like a free 10 pack of the eProformance,...

Compatibility Problem by Scott Jones
I'm having a problem playing DVDs on my Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD Recorder. I edit in Premiere and generally output as *.avi. Therefater I import the *avi into Ulead DVD Factory 2 to author the DVD. This is the process I have followed for some time now and DVDs have always worked on my older Toshiba SD-220E. Newly created DVDs won't play on the Panasonic and I simply get an 'unsupport' error...

Which camera, an ordinary Digital or an SLR Digital, that is the question by Derrick Fawsitt
Up to now I have been persuaded that the best Digital camera was an SLR Digital. A friend tells me that provided you don't want to change lenses you don't need an SLR, if so, which cameras would you buy right now. Can someone comment on that please, thank you. To assist anyone kind enough to help me here, can I add the following comments I made to a previous post in another Newsgroup which...

Panasonic NVGS-400 by Scott Jones
Yesterday I took an almighty plunge and purchased a GS-400. Any other owners of this camera feel that the instruction manual is a tad vague? My purpose in posting to this newsgroup is to hopefully identify someone who has one of these cameras who would be able to confirm one or two bits and pieces that I can't get answered from reading the guide. My email address is:
