| | Miranda DV Bridge vs Pinnacle Studio 9 by
Rich
Has anyone tried to use a Miranda DV Bridge with Pinnacle Studio 9.
Neither product refers to the other in their compatability lists,
clearly because one is a sub-£100 piece of software and the other is top
notch encoder and if you can afford a DV Bridge you'd buy some decent
NLE software right!?
Well I've got Studio 9 and can borrow a DV Bridge but I need to know
it'll work before I hire...

| | Do I really need DV-in or 3CCD? by
Harman Sanghera
Narrowed my choice down to either Panasonic NV-GS35B (single CCD) or
NV-GS75B (3CCD,no DV-in) or NV-GS150B (3CCD,DV-in).
Price difference between 35B and 150B is £200. So a couple or more
questions for all the experts, before I spend my hard-earned:
(1) Do I really need DV-in if I'll be editing movies on my computer, and
using my DVD burner to create DVDs of the end result? Do I really need...

| | trimming tool for video files by
t0rgo
I use Unphuck for trimming mp3's, and I would like a similar tool to
trim
video files that just trims and doesn't re-compress the file. It's
quicker and maintaing the file quality since it doesn't re-render the
movie file. It works just like digital scissors.
I also posted to "rec.video" and so did Giovanni as quoted below:

| | Unable to play downloaded DV (.ASF) files...WinXP/IE problem? by
Brett Shoelson
Hello,
I've downloaded some ASF files from my Canon Optima 300 DV camera to my
computer, but am unable to play them. The Canon manual states that Windows
Media Player (WMP) will automatically download the necessary codec on first
attempt to play a video. I have only been "partially successful," though;
WMP launches IE and gives me a message that it is downloading the codec. But
then I get a...

| | adobe premier avi import produces black border by
tg
I'm trying to use Camtasia Recorder and adobe premier pro 1.5 together but
having a problem. I make a full screen capture recording with camtasia and
it works as a full screen on playback. It also works as a full screen when
played back in Windows Media Player. But if I import the camtasia avi into
adobe premier pro it appears with a thick black border around the outside -
as if the avi has been...

| | Hardware/storage setup for video-editing computer by
PT
Im helping my father setup a computer, which most demanding tasks would be
video editing in Pinnacle Studio 9 and MPEG2 encoding in general.
I dont know that much about video editing, so i thought id ask for some tips
here.
As for the CPU/mobo, im tied between a P4 Prescott 540(3.2Ghz) w/ Abit AA8
DuraMax mboo and a AMD64(winchester core) 3200+ w/ A8N-SLI Deluxe
motherboard(its surprisingly...

| | encore motion menu quality degrades by
chrisp
Hello,
I have an issue with encore's motion menu. When the menu is static the
image quality is totally fine (including the static avi, photosop
layers, text etc) However as soon as i render the motion menu and then
preview the whole menu looks blurry and there is a significant drop in
quality.
However when i burn this onto dvd and try it on my dvd player the
picture seems sharp.. this is not...

| | vhs to dvd - high quality & low cost! by
Pete
What is the best way to go from vhs to dvd?
Any anyone recommend some hardware (at a reasonable cost - i.e home user)
that would produce a reasonable quality output. (i.e at least as goods as
VHS origional, and enhanced if possible)
I have seen hardware solutions such as the advc300. If this the best way
forward, or can a equivilent result be acheived via a imput card and
software?

| | Archiving AVI files by
Bob Edwards
Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but here goes:
I have captured footage from a DV camera, edited it in Pinnacle 9.3 and
burned it to a DVD. Now but rather than save/archive the edited AVI files
from Pinnacle, can I now delete these on the assumption that if I want to
re-use/re-edit the footage at a later date, there is an easy way to extract
it from the DVD?

| | W: Tips for "tapeless recording" with DSR-PD170 by
Claus C. Plaass
Hi all !
I am currently deciding whether or not and which
harddrive storage to buy for "tapeless recording".
Models I have found so far are
- nNovia Quick Capture A2D (ca. 1000 USD)
(= Laird "CapDiv", "DataVideo DV Data Bank")
- Focus Firestore FS-4 (ca. 1200 USD)

| | One card to capture S-video AND Firewire input ? by
PeteD
Hi - can anyone help please - is there a card on the market which
enables capture of S-video (or composite Hi8) - AND with firewire input
?
I have lots of Analog video on Hi8 tapes which I want to edit on PC -
so need a capture device.
I'm planning to upgrade to digital camcorder, so will soon need
firewire input.
So I wondered if there is a one-card-does-all solution ?

| | HDMI to DVI-D ? by
Alan Truelove
Does anybody know a DVD recorder that features a DVI-D output? My plasma
only has a DVI-D input.
Failing that, does anybody know if it is possible to convert from HDMI to
DVI-D? (Been looking at this lovely piece of Pioneer equipment
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=9550&taxonomy_id=62-125).
{Does anybody know of a better newsgroup to re-post this question...

| | Handheld stabilisers by
Wally
Does anyone have experience with handheld stablisers? My main intended use
is to do walk-throughs of ancient monuments, like stone circles and ruined
castles. Flights would be fairly slow, mostly at a wide angle setting, and
probably with a fair amount of 'looking around' - walk a bit, pan and tilt
to look at a feature, walk a bit more. I'd also like to do 'walk-rounds' - a
360 degree flight...

| | Pinnacle 9 NTSC issue by
chuckonetwo
Hi
I purchased Pinnacle 9 overseas only to find that I cant seem to work with
certain files (eg AVIs) with it. As it turns out, I think it has to do with
the version being locked to NTSC (Nth American version), and my camcorder
would have recorded in PAL (as used in home country). This is only my guess
though.
Any ideas to rectify this?
Cheers

| | Tape to DVD? Help please. by
Munch
I want to transfer home video to DVD, but am not sure of the best way
to do it...!
Source tapes are VHS and Video 8 (from Sony Video 8 cam). I have a
graphics card with DVI, but I assume I need some sort of analogue
capture card, so I can download to the PC, from which I can edit and
burn to DVD? I don't know if that's correct - it's all very
confusing, so any help would be much...

| | Philips VR 750 Video cassette recorder OT? by
Malcolm Stewart
My Philips VR 750 video cassette recorder has become confused. (Possibly due
to a mains failure a few days ago.)
It thinks it has a recording programmed for the future, and so continually
turns itself off after a few minutes of in-activity from the tape transport.
(So I can't use it for watching those TV channels not available to my older
TV.)
I've checked through the Menu item listing Timer...
