| | Bluescreen with water by
Wally
For no particular reason (other than creating the next Hollywood blockbuster
single-handed), I was wondering how to go about doing a bluescreen thingy,
such that I can superimpose something onto a water scene.
I have a blue screen (roller blind, which seems to work), and a toy (ahem,
*model*) Stingray. I also have some footage of a local loch. I'd like to, if
possible, make it look as if...

| | Sony or panasonic 3ccd ? by
LHW
I have been looking for a new camcorder; I quite like the sony HC90
which strongly features 'true widescreen' as its major selling feature
(to me), but I have since found out that the new 3ccd panasonic
cameras may be cheaper. My question is simple (!) Do the new 3ccd
panasonic cameras offer a real increase in quality over single ccd,
and if so what is the real problem with not having true...

| | A Question Of Hard Drive Config by
Bryan Bellis
I have two hard drives, let's call them HD1 and HD2. My OS, WinXP is
on HD1, as is Pinnacle 9. Now, I know it's better to import the video
files from my camcorder to one or t'other of Hd1 or HD2, and during a
Pinaccle render to output the files to one or t'other.
Which config is the best away around please?

| | Lens cleaning materials by
Wally
What would folks recommend for lens cleaning materials? In my still
photography days, I used a blower brush which had a slide-up capped
protector to keep the bristles in good condition, along with a soft cloth
and a bottle of Kodak lens cleaner.
A look around Jessops didn't reveal a blower brush that I thought was any
good - just a nastly little thing with exposed bristles for 4 quid. They
also...

| | recomended external mic by
informer
Been looking for an external shock mounted mic and found this one for £89 at
http://www.hhb.co.uk/hhb/uk/products/detail.asp?ID=1901. There is a very
good detailed review of this mic at
http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/articles/Rode_VideoMic.htm . Thought I
would post a message about it here for anyone doing a google search on
camcorder external microphone.

| | advice on camcorder for recording newborn & a live band by
Charlie
Hi,
I'm new to all this having never owned a camcorder. I'm wanting to do
two things:
1 - make dvds of my newborn son for relatives.
2 - record live bands in dark/loud venues (a reasonable sound/picture,
doesn't have to be cd quality!).
Any advice for a good quality camera for 1000 pounds that could do both?
I've read http://camcord.info/buying/ so will go with minidv, just not

| | wireless mics by
asky
Anyone got any experience good or bad about these. I'm looking to get
something to suit a Sony VX2000 that can take more than 1 mic at a time.
Obviously it has to be portable. Can anyone make recommendations of which
type, etc. Don't need top of range pro gear but don't want cheap crap
either. Thanks for any input.

| | Flushing Transcode buffer message on ULEAD VideoStudio8 by
mark.wicks
When capturing footage from my Panasonic NVGS120 onto VideoStudio 8, I
periodically get a message 'flushing DV transcode buffer'. This suspends
the capture process and causes a few frames to be missed when the capture
process is restarted.
What do I need to do to stop this happening?

| | Computer upgrade by
ivan
After asking for advice on this news group about up-dating my computer on a
limited budget (£200) I opted for the one suggested by 'Andy' and wound up
with a Asus K8N motherboard, 512MB of Crucial memory, an AMD Sempron 2800
processor, 160 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive and a 450 watt power supply.
Unfortunately as that was a total sum of my budget gone, for now at least
I'll have to stick with my...

Chris Croughton
I've just downloaded all of this newsgroup from news.indvidual.net, 900+
messages starting January 30, and have been through them. I can't see
anything like a FAQ, is there one I've missed? Or should I just go
ahead and post my query anyway?

| | Wanted, true widesceen low light camcorder under £500 by
informer
Come on guys and help me out. I am looking to pay around £500 discounted
price for a camcorder and am having real problems finding the right model.
The camcorder I require must have true widescreen and take a decent picture
inside the house. For a start even though widescreen TV's have been out
years there doesn't seem to be many camcorders that shoot in true
widescreen. I have short listed...

| | What mini DV Camcorder should I get? by
JimboSlim
Hi Videoers
I was homing in on PANASONIC NV-GS250 also known as NVGS250B as a mini DV
camcorder. But now I am leaning towards the
PANASONIC Camcorder NV-GS400
But I have been put off PANASONIC by forum reports of problems connecting to
PCs.
What Mid range Camcorder if any is the best bet. I have doubts about Sony,
JVC, & Canon but they may be ok

| | V V4 users - how to get V V4 to recognized saved presets?? by
Traveller
I did an OS wipe/reinstall and put my saved presets backs into the
presets folder. I saw that I had to actually create a preset for the
folder to be created and then saw that a weirdly named file was
created at that time (something like "{}" with numbers and letters
inside). I saved my presets to both the general presets file and then
into that one with the funny name. They just don't show...

| | Help identify digital camera. by
Marc.
Can anyone please help me to identify this camera please?
It's entirely unbranded but within it's limitations performs very well
indeed; I'm pretty sure that finding the exact right driver for it will
improve the images still further.
There's an image of it at
http://www.chirgles.btinternet.co.uk/unbranded_camera.jpg
Thank you!
