Converting Interlaced DV avi using TMPGEnc by Donald Thompson
I'm trying to convert DV .avi that came off a video camera to a good quality mpeg with tmpgenc. The source .avi file appears to be interlaced, at 30 frames per second. The source .avi plays crystal clear. Without any deinterlacing settings during the conversion, the resulting video looks horrid. Theres so many settings regarding interlacing with tmpgenc that I don't know where to start, and the...

Playback onscreen of two video streams simultaneously by Gandalf
Hi folks......comments/thoughts/ideas please I have a need to compare two video files taken on different dates in real time - a before and after exercise. I run Win 2K and have a PC with two DVD drives. The video card has only one monitor connection and I do not want to upgrade to a dual output card or provide an additional monitor. Running two separate windows on the main screen will suffice...

What is best mid range MiniDV Camcorder by JimboSlim
Hi Videoers I had my Sony TRV50E Mini DV stolen in Barcelona. I now have the Insurance money. I have gone off Sony because they use Memory Stick which is expensive and lower in capacity than other flash memory. I want one with SD Card or support more than one type of card.

capturing analogue by MikeJohnes
Hello. I'd like to transfer old VHS and analogue camcorder tapes into a digital format. I have absolutely no experience with doing this and I'm not sure what type of video capture card to buy or whether to try the 'Dazzle DVC 90' USB plug device described here http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=6890793846&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3Jldmlld3M=&product_uid=62010 What I'd like to...

Ulead VS, PAL DVD's ok but NTSC falls over by Roger R
Have edited and assembled my AVI files, moved on to DVD creation and successfully burned a number of DVD's in PAL format. I want to send a disc to a friend in America and thought to make a NTSC format version of the DVD. At the last stage of the DVD creation set up I choose the option NTSC. It tells me some video info will be lost. ok. It then proceeds to convert the files. This takes...

DVB-C Card Questions by slim
Hi all, I'm considering getting a DVB-C card and wondered if anybody had any recommendations for good ones that I can get set up with minimal fuss and get at the resultant MPEG2 recordings without any DRM. Preferably with USB connectivity so I can see if it would work on a laptop. Also, I wondered if a DVB-C card could be retuned to work as a DVB-T if I were to move from a cable area to a...

How much does one have to pay for a very high-speed video camera? by Xdobroplayer99@aol.com
Hi, I wondered if ayone could advise. I need a very high-speed digital movie camera that can take about 4000 frames per second. My company needs to film and analyse high-speed events such as car crashes, and play back at slow speed for analysis. Each movie sequence needs to be only about one second or two in duration. The picture quality can be black and white and does not need to be high...

V V4 users - how to get V V4 to recognized saved presets?? by Traveller
I did an OS wipe/reinstall and put my saved presets backs into the presets folder. I saw that I had to actually create a preset for the folder to be created and then saw that a weirdly named file was created at that time (something like "{}" with numbers and letters inside). I saved my presets to both the general presets file and then into that one with the funny name. They just don't show...

No audio in TMPGEnc? GSpot says audio fine + plenty of codecs? by Traveller
EO Video is my preference when this occurs, but I'm having problems with it on many files this time around (as per my other message). I'm stuck with an AVI that I need to make into a VCD. How do we fix this type of problem. AVI plays just fine with various players, 2 versions of GSpot say everything okay with audio but TMPGEnc Plus flatlines in the audio window in source range and produces MPG...

Panasonic NVGS50 recording problems by Laurence
Hi This is my first post as this is my first camcorder so a complete newbie I am! I have bought a Panasonic NVGS50 from a friend. Suddenly it will not record to film. If I play it back using WinXP native video software all it shows is the 1st frame running jerkily for about 2 seconds and then nothing. Oddly it records OK to SD card in MPEG4. thanks for looking

Advice on letterboxing and ratio correction by Karl Foley
I wonder if someone can offer me advice on software? I have a DVD recorder that produces .VOB files. There are two problems with these .vob files: 1. Even though the X/Y size is correct for a 16:9 ratio, other players seem to think it's a 4:3 recording and hence the video is squashed up in the middle of the screen. 2. The top nine lines contain some annoying lines which flicker during
