VHS to DVD - Computer or Standalone HD-DVDR? by RobDee
Long version: (skip down for short version) I've been offered a contract which is outside of my normal field. These guys have literally hundreds of hours of video on VHS which they want burning onto DVD. They want this so they can make quick, easy copies for distribution and so their Teachers (its a school) can get instant access to the relevant part of the required programme, without having...

Replacement Batteries by Fred
Hello Can anyone recommend a good online shop for replacement Sony batteries? Looking for an NP-F330 compatible for a handycam. Are those advertised as 100% compatible really so? They certainly look much better value. Many Thanks Fred

Canon MV600i problem by Paul Parr
I have a MV600i, bought new in March 04. Despite no more than 40 hours total usage from new, this week it has started to show picture faults on its own displays (viewfinder and/or flip-out screen on the side). The faults appear as five vertical columns of white 'tearing', each about 1/20 of screen width scrolling up the screen. When the video is from the camera itself, the faults are recorded...

burning problem by ny8851
Help!!! I'm using Pinnnacle Instant Video Album softare to burn dvd's of edited camcorder footage. Worked fine the first time (small 30 min clip) but since then when trying to burn a project containing 3 sep clips onto one DVD (53mins in total), the creating file process just "stops" around the 78% mark. Nothing else happens & it doesn't even get to the next "burning" stage. My PC uses XP,...

iMovie HD by Martin S Taylor
Hi: I use a Sony HD-30. The reason I bought it was that it will do analogue to digital pass-through, and I used it with iMovie with great success. But with the latest version, iMovie HD, it just tells me there's no cassette in the camera. I *know* this - I don't want to record off the cassette. But it won't let me record the digital stream from the analogue input. If I put a cassette in, of...

Sony Handycam DVD202E question by Mike NG
I have formatted my mini DVD as video format, finalised it, and now I can see all the BUP IFO and VOB files on the computer. At some point in the future I would like to make a compilation to a traditional sized DVD, but for now I could do with re-using the mini DVD as I don't want to shell out each time until I get round to making my compilation. I take it it's perfectly safe for me to...

TMPGENC Plus 2.5: How to remove (Jpeg) artefacts from movie? by Uwe Kotyczka
Hi, I've got some MPEG1 movies with a low constant bitrate (1150Kbps). I would like to transcode them with TMPGENC Plus 2.5 (2.521.58.169) to MPEG2 and make a DVD of them. Works fine so far. Unfortunately some scenes with rapid motion show very uggly artefacts (like strongly compressed JPEGs do). I know that graphic programs like Paint Shop Pro are able to remove such artefacts in a very good...

The future of video/photographer.... by Steve Franklin
Again...slightly off topic...but as this does concern video, I'd be interested in your thoughts... Hi all... Was just thinking the other day, what with video fast increasing resolution do you think there will come a time where certain fields of photography will not be around any more?

Sony DCR HC42 ? by John Russell
"Charlie" wrote in message ... Hi, I've been considering the HC42 too and have a question about the widescreen format. Does it mean that you can only record in widescreen or you can still record in 4:3 as well? I'm only interested in 4:3 at the moment - any recommendations for a sony that would do for only 4:3 that's similar to...

Editing stuff copied from Sky+ to PC via DVD-RAM by Jim Hawkins
I can copy from my Sky+ HDD to a Panasonic DVD recorder, and from that to my PC via DVD-RAM discs. But my WinXPMediaCenter PC can't recognize the video format (.VRO files). What software do I need to:- 1. Enable the PC to read the files (and play them) 2. Edit the video, save it, and write it back to DVD-RAM discs. Thanks in advance for any help. Jim Hawkins

Yes it is off topic, but I suspect that this group may possibily have some spare capacity at the moment given the handful of unique threads over the last month... Apologies if you have all seen this already, but this is amazing.... http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,66498,00.html

How to convert video to dvd ? by
What is the best way to convert video to dvd, but at the same time to use the least storage space. One option is to use a dvd recorder on the high quality mode, but then we have only 1-2 hours on the dvd while the video can be 3 hours. What should I do to increase dvd recording time without effecting the quality. Should I record on high resolution, and then use divx to increase space?

Canon MVX10i screen problem? by briwy
I have had the above camcorder for about 18 months and am generally very happy with it. However, I find the screen as good as useless outdoors. Increasing the brightness simply washes out the image. Compared to the screen on my Canon Ixus still camera, and other screens on Sony and Olympus kit it is hopeless. Has anyone else got the same problem or is it just this one that has a dodgy...
