VHS Capture by Ian Smith
I'm looking to capture VHS Tapes onto my computer for editing/making DVD. The computer has a Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture card installed (on the back of the puter there's what looks like an 'S' Video socket and two audio 'in' sockets. My VCR player only has SCART output. Any ideas on how they can be linked in. (I tried using a SCART to AV connection because there's a video composite &...

Major headache.... by Mike
Hi, I am producing a DVD for a colleague. It will include a photoslideshow (motion pictures and background music), individual photos (to be used like an old fashioned projector show) and a number of video clips. Using Encore, ProShow Gold and Photoshop, I have successfully created the menus and all the picture elements of the project and am now starting work on the video elements. I though...

RECORDING VIDEO CLIPS FROM WEBSITES by lynn lucas
I've had pretty good success using Camtasia to accomplish this, but still certain video clips come out all black. I've tried disabling the hardware accelerator but that didn't help any. Is there a better program which will record ALL videos, or is there something else I can try which will work? Thanks in advance!! Lynn

Cable Advice by Carl Jarvis
Hello Group - I hope this is not too far off topic. I am having some building work done on my house and will be replacing skirting boards, as such I have a great opportunity to hide cables (network and tv). I want to have a mini hub style thing somewhere out of the way and have everything running into that so that I can then break the tv signal out into different rooms (and use a device to...

Widescreen or not ? by lloydwatkins@metronet.co.uk
I have searched various groups and not really found an answer on whether to shoot and edit in 16:9 or not. I have a DV camcorder that has the ability to record in 16:9, 'Cinema' and 4:3 aspect ratios. (Panasonic NVGS150), ignoring whether this is the best camcorder or not, which is the best mode to shoot and edit in. I can handle wide-screen in edit (FCP4.5HD) and DVD Production (DVD Studio...

How is the quality of photo's with Panasonic NV-GS120 and 150 by
I consider buying a panasonic NV-Gs 120 or 150. One of the differences are the pixels. The 120 has 1.7, the 150 has 2.3. Is this enough for standard small photo's or do I need a photocamera beside to get real nice pictures?

for wireless microphones: is using 176.2MHz legal in the UK or is this frequency already allocated elsewhere? I tried googling around - I found some tables here and there about available frequencies but I couldn't find any info on this particular frequency. Thanks for any help.

non-jvc manufactured battery vs jvc data battery, is it safe? by speakeasy
Hello, I've got a JVC GR-DF420EK Camcorder and I'm looking for a BN-VF733U battery. I've found the original from JVC costs £95! and the cheapest from ebay a non-JVC battery costs £22 incl. delivery from Hong Kong. The manual states non-JVC batteries can cause damage to the internal charging circuitry. Has anyone used these cheap generic batteries in JVC camcorders that use the new...

DVD+HDD recorder with Freeview - does ANYONE make one? by Martin Underwood
Do any manufacturers make DVD+HDD recorders with a built-in Freeview receiver? Looking at Currys' and Comet's offerings, I noticed that Sony make a model that has DVD and Freeview (but no HDD) and another model that has DVD and HDD (but no Freeview). No other manufacturers whose products were on sale in those shops had built-in Freeview. A quick check on Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic and Hitachi...

Recovering formatted HDD-recorder by Matti Kaki
Hello. I did it again. Accidentally formatted my Sony RDR-HX 900 hard disc. Is there any way to recover it? It had 150 G of films, news and importat TV-programs I have recorded for my son. If I connect the HDD to my computer it can't be seen. The structure must be some kind of very simple and I need a program which can see it. Any suggestions?
