permitted vhf frequencies in the UK (wireless microphones) by tg
for wireless microphones: is using 176.2MHz legal in the UK or is this frequency already allocated elsewhere? I tried googling around - I found some tables here and there about available frequencies but I couldn't find any info on this particular frequency. Thanks for any help.

non-jvc manufactured battery vs jvc data battery, is it safe? by speakeasy
Hello, I've got a JVC GR-DF420EK Camcorder and I'm looking for a BN-VF733U battery. I've found the original from JVC costs £95! and the cheapest from ebay a non-JVC battery costs £22 incl. delivery from Hong Kong. The manual states non-JVC batteries can cause damage to the internal charging circuitry. Has anyone used these cheap generic batteries in JVC camcorders that use the new...

DVD+HDD recorder with Freeview - does ANYONE make one? by Martin Underwood
Do any manufacturers make DVD+HDD recorders with a built-in Freeview receiver? Looking at Currys' and Comet's offerings, I noticed that Sony make a model that has DVD and Freeview (but no HDD) and another model that has DVD and HDD (but no Freeview). No other manufacturers whose products were on sale in those shops had built-in Freeview. A quick check on Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic and Hitachi...

Recovering formatted HDD-recorder by Matti Kaki
Hello. I did it again. Accidentally formatted my Sony RDR-HX 900 hard disc. Is there any way to recover it? It had 150 G of films, news and importat TV-programs I have recorded for my son. If I connect the HDD to my computer it can't be seen. The structure must be some kind of very simple and I need a program which can see it. Any suggestions?

Digital8 horizontal banding & sound dropping out on playback by dave @ stejonda
My trusty Sony TRV730e Digital8 camcorder has just started to play up. The picture is divided by several thick black horizontal bands and the sound drops in/out continuously. I've run a head-cleaning tape through but this has had no effect. The problem occurs on both the just-recorded and older tapes. What could be the reason please? Is an economic repair likely to be possible?

Use of DVD+RW in computers and DVDRecorders by Fadel@eblcom.ch
I'm using DVD+RW in my computer and in the videorecorder connected to the TV. The discs I use on the computer cannot be read, formatted or erased on the DVD Recorder. However, videos created on the computer can be read by the DVD Recorder. How can I get the DVD Recorder to use DVDdiscs used by the computer? Can I format thes RW+ discs somehow? Thanks and regrds Fadel

Compact DVD player as camcorder display ? Cable ? by Malcolm Stewart
I note that there's now a choice of compact DVD players (around 7" screen size), and have wondered whether to get one so that I can play back my "video masterpieces" g, when away from base. Was told today that they all have an AV In socket, and on the one I examined it was a 3.5mm co-axial. Does anyone know who supplies suitable cables i.e. 3.5 to 3.5mm. I don't particularly want to use two...

Audio level meter by ivan
Does any one know of a DVD burning programme which actually incorporates a visual adjustable audio level meter? As the two programmes I use that were supplied free with a USB DVD maker (so I can't really complain) both rely on the Windows in-built volume controls, which I have found to be a bit of a hit and miss procedure, sometimes producing anything from barely none to grossly over modulated...

Question about splitting avi in Premiere by Beemer
Am I correct that to split an avi file (to cut off several blank hours of unattended capture) within Premiere Pro it can only be done by export/render operation? I did this to a 48GB file to cut it to 14GB of actual video but it takes a long time. My question is really asking why does Premiere not offer a quick way of doing this like I understand Videodub can do (which I have not...
