| | Filming in Sunlight by
Larry
I have a Panasonic GS13 bought in December 2004. Had little use. Tried to
film in bright sunlight the other day and everything was totally washed
out. Filming the shadows came just fine. Every other time I had filmed
inside so I never had the problem before. Any suggestions or maybe it just
this model? Anything I can do about it? All the settings seem to be okay. I
am not using the low light...

| | MiniDV quality and DVD recorder by
John
I'm very new to all this and I can't find an FAQ for this group so I
apologise if this question has been asked before. I've just bought a Sony
HC22E MiniDV camcorder and I'll be using a Firewire cable to connect the DV
output of the camcorder to the DV input of my stand-alone DVD recorder so
that I can put my movies onto DVD.
My DVD recorder (a Philips DVDR725H) will allow me to record in...

| | Video capture woes - ideas please by
Malcolm H
I am using Pinnacle Studio 9.4.3 and have had very good results with digital
capture using DV format from a DV camcorder.
So good were the results that I decided to update some of my old home movies
taken with a Video8 analog camcorder. I therefore bought Dazzle Digital
Video Creator 90. This is also a Pinnacle product consisting of an analog
capture module connected to the computer via...

| | cam lights by
Asky
How much do these hotshoe camcorder lights drain on the battery i.e. what
kind of reduction in use of a battery would I expect for one that normally
lasts for approx 6-8 hrs? Thanks for any experience and opinions of these
lights.

| | DVD Cleaners by
Geoff Lane
I've got a Philips TV with incorporated DVD player, of late it has
started to become a wee bit eratic with playing DVDs.
Sometimes it'll tell me to insert a readable disk whereas on occasions
it will play the same media. I do check the cleanliness of the discs.
Are the DVD/CD cleaners any good or is it likely my player is on the
way out.

| | Useful documents from the Channel4 FourDocs site. by
:::Jerry::::
As many probably know channel Four have started a venture were the
public can upload four minute _documentaries_ so that others can see
their work, as part of this they have a couple of PDF files that are
designed to help those making documenters that should also help / be
of interest other film making genre's - in one file there is a sample
contributors release form (that looks similar to other...

| | What next? by
Simon B
A friend has a Sony hc22, they can capture video using the cradle, docking
station.
all fine, but how to make a dvd of this?
They have used M'soft's Movie maker to cut and edit titles etc, and then
saved the resultant file as a dv-avi(pal).
This avi file is then converted to a type 2 avi file and loaded into Pinacle
expression to make menus for the DVD etc.
The problem is the quality of the...

| | external mic by
David
Can anyone here recommend a good external mic for a Sony VX2000, preferably
via the hotshoe connection? Don't think I want to add XLR adaptors or the
like. Thanks for any suggestions.

| | DVR device that actually is an external HDD - Still looking for it! by
Jean Luc
Hi,
I can see that you can buy satellite receivers with a lot of features ...
All I am asking for is such a box but without all the satellite crap: A
VHS with a hard drive instead of the tapes if you like.
I looked a bit on google and e-bay but it seams that such a device does
not exist :-(
Ideally this device (of my dreams) would look like an external hard drive
recording mpeg or avi, with a...

| | animated titles by
cut this out
I've just started to get into video editing and have a basic question.
How can I create animated titles that become .avi files for adding into
video?
I have Nero6 but I can only see how to insert Nero's prepared
transistions, fades etc. (I can't even find these effects as files
within the Nero folder.
I have DrawPlus that creates animations but apparently only as gifs for
web use.
I also have...

| | screen display to .avi? by
Margaret
Hello all,
I want to make a short .avi or dvtape of a computer screen display.
Ideally I would run the programme -it's fractals - and have Premiere
Elements record it direct but I suspect that is pie in the sky. The
best suggestion yet has been to run the prog in full-screen mode and
save it to a VHS machine. I should be able to do that as I have a
Studio Plus card but it will lose...

| | Premiere playback using Radeon 9800 Pro TV out? by
Beemer
My Radeon 9800 Pro allows me to view AVI, DVD etc on my TV. Also I can view
Premiere Pro playback on my TV when the DV camera s-video output is
connected to the TV s-video input. However I want to playback without the
camera camera using the same TV out (S-video) of my Radeon 9800. When I
try this I do not get the overlay but see the desktop with Premiere running
including the running...

| | info lithium battery prob by
roy davidson
It was my daughters birthday yesterday, I put the video camera on charge for
three hours before she got up. The camera only lasted about a second each
time I tried it. Its an info lithium or something like that. Last time this
happened I
put a small dc motor across the battery and left it to empty the
battery,then
charged it as normal. It worked until today, about 8 months since the...

| | Using NTSC camcorder in uk by
Kevin Scott
Sorry in advance if I'm posting to the wrong group but this seemed the most
relevant from the selection I had.
I'm about to buy a camcorder. I was all set to purchase from the uk then I
read a magazine article advising to purchase on-line from the US.
Sure enough, after a small search on e-bay I found the exact same camera for
£100 less than the best UK price but it's NTSC - though it does...

| | CCTV mini-DIN pinouts by
Rob Hemmings
Hi,
I've acquired a used monochrome CCTV security camera, but can't
seem to find the pin-outs of it's mini-DIN connector on the web.
Is there a standard? It appears to take its power from the monitor down
the same cable (which looks just like a 6-pin S-video cable.)
It's only a cheap one (~400 lines of resolution) if that helps.
Cheers,

| | which one? by
Simon B
I'm looking for a digital camcorder, have done some searching:
Cannon mvx250i or Canon 850i or Sony dcr-hc22 are the likely contenders!
As my head is aching with the possibilities of these I thought I'd see what
people suggest!
Main use as a hobby cam, family and all that, with editing on a pc and
burninf finished work onto DVD for granny etc!!! ;-)
Look 350 max ish

| | resyncing audio by
Beemer
I have just started to try video editing. I have transfered a vhs tape
which had out of sync sound to harddisk. What is the normal procedure to
resync. Do I unlink the sound track and cut or add video frames or can I
move the sound track by a few frames? I use Premiere Pro.

| | Adding a time counter to my video by
trevor.worsey@plymouth.ac.uk
Hi there,
This should be simple but it is driving me mad, I am currently filming
crab behaviour in aquariums for a university project. I am shooting
with an old MiniDV Sony DCR-TRV10, and use Vegas 5 for editing. I am
shooting crab pairs for 15 minutes, what I want to do is insert a time
counter on the video so when I add it to the DVD on the screen
overlayed over the crabs is a hh:mm:ss...

| | Does digital have anything to do with PAL or NTSC? by
John
I'm very much a newbie at this but I'm looking to buy my first digital
camcorder. My brother is working in america at the moment and I was thinking
of asking him to bring one back for me from there as they're much cheaper
there (I know we may have to pay duty and whatever on entry but it's still
cheaper), but I know they use the NTSC system and we use PAL.
Something I read the other day...
