Have looked at the Sony docking station and seen that the USB output from these seems to be a YUV2 format, whilst the DV output is avi, the latter being at 720x576 Surely this is what gives the difference in output between the DVD quality captured by the software? I've got a Philips TV with incorporated DVD player, of late it has started to become a wee bit eratic with playing DVDs. Sometimes it'll tell me to insert a readable disk whereas on occasions it will play the same media. I do check the cleanliness of the discs.
