VHS to DVD via Canon MVX330i by P
Thanks to all who answered my enquiry from a couple of weeks back. I have now acquired a Canon MVX330i. Its only official duty so far has been as analog-to-digital conversion unit between my VCR and computer in order to create a DVD from a VHS tape. The camera is outputting DV to a Firewire input on the computer. I'm using NeroVision Express to capture the digitized output from the camera. ...

Camcorder for snowboarding? by Michael Bartlett
Hey all, I'm looking for a camcorder to take snowboarding with me with. My main requirements being: good quality, small, rugged. That's probably pretty obvious. I've been reading all over about seemingly the only compacts sports camera, the Samsung SCX105. It seems to be great in all departments, except for quality - which is not really great is it! Any other recommendations? Anything that I...

Ram disc life? by Mick
Hi all, I have a Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD Recorder Since getting the recorder around 3 months ago I have cleared old recordings by "formatting" the Ram disc. Now one disc gives a message "format failed", after several attempts it then said format would take "70" min rather than the normal "2" min but this format also failed after around an hour. Is the disc useless now? Would I be better off...

HELP!!!! by Peter Irving
Sorry guys but I am desperate. I have just completed filming a musical event I have a total of 12 mini dv cassettes to edit into 1 project some 2 hours long. On capturing the tapes I find 2 of them for some reason have been recorded in 4.3 format whereas the rest are in 16.9, I can only think this was done by altering a setting on the camera a Canon XL1, which I had borrowed. Does anyone...

How will the change affect multiple recorders? by Alan Holmes
At present I have two vcrs, which can be set to different channels for recording programmes, they have a 'children's lock' which permits you to turn one on and set it without disturbing the other, then you swap them over by using the 'children's lock' and set up the other one. Are there, or will there be, dvd recorders which are able to operate in the same way, will it be possible to set each...

Sony PC330E 16:9 + progressive? by Fabio DONNA
Hello, is there any hint to allow Sony PC330E to record 16:9 video in progressive mode? It seems that those features are mutually exclusive. Are there technical reasons to do that or it's simply a commercial choice? Thanks in advance Regards Fabio

Help please choosing new camcorder by Vernon
I have just found my two year old Canon MV600i no longer records a picture, sound is ok, so is analogue recording. Found the receipt and returned the camera to Costco, I was disappointed with the currect selection at Costco, so I got a full refund, top marks for customer service. I now have £420 for a new DV camcorder, but I can add maybe another £100 to that. What would be a best buy at...

Steadycam - home made version by RobDee
Thanks (and apologies in advance) to whoever I got this link from - it was quite likely someone on this group, I can't honestly remember. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/ Anyway, I have something to add, so it's not just a repeat: I built one of these things, suitably adapted to locally available tools and materials. I mainly make Wildlife and Adventure type productions, but also...
