| | Recommend miniDV tapes? by
Rob Hemmings
I'm using a Canon MV850i for archiving edited DV footage.
Some of this stuff will likely sit on a shelf for months/years.
Can anyone recommend a particular brand etc that's known
to work well with the 850i? Alternatively, are there any makes
to avoid like the plague?
Do DV tapes need to be fast-fowarded and rewound every few
months, ala VHS tapes, to reduce print-through?
What's with this...

| | From camcorder DV via PC to sperarate DVD recorder? Good or bad idea by
Andyboy
Hi,
I'm looking into getting a DV camcorder. However, my laptop only has CD
burner and not a DVD burner. I have a separate DVD player/recorder. I
would like to edit the video footage on my laptop. What I'm wondering
is will I then be able to transfer the footage from my laptop to the
DVD recorder and record onto a DVD disk. If so, will I be compromising
the quality compared to burning directly...

Tony Morgan
Since I no longer use Premiere Pro, I have a PDF version of Adobe's
Classroom in a Book (ISBN 0-323-19378-4) to dispose of.
Anyone who uses Premiere Pro who would like this book, please e-mail me.
I'll sent it (free) to the first person who's e-mail is received.
If you only have a restricted e-mail account - please don't waste my
time since the book is an 18M PDF file (some e-mail accounts...

| | Sound distortion on Sony DCR-HC19E Camcorder by
junk1@davidbevan.co.uk
I have got a new Sony DCR-HC19E camcorder which I am happy with in
every way except the sound quality. Basically it seems to distort all
but the quietest sounds.
If I record someone speaking then when I play it back via the telly the
picture quality is fine, but the sound 'wobbles' slightly, the best way
I can describe it is that it makes people sound a bit like darliks!
Has anyone else got one...

| | Sony DSR-PDX10 - Spare/Service Parts by
John F. Miller
Hello,
I need to replace a microswitch in a Sony DSR-PDX10 camcorder. It's the one
located behind the flip-out LCD display hinge and controls whether the LCD
display is active or the B/W viewfinder.
If anyone knows the part number (I expect it comes as an assembly with a
mylar connecting ribbon) and/or how to find out the number (i.e., where to
get a service manual), please let me know.

| | Ex-British Army Officer in Nude Antiwar Protest by
CCE
You can download, for the first time, this celebrated video clip as a
high resolution DivX file (140 MB) using Bittorrent peer to peer technology.
Go to this DTV/Broadcast Machine channel:
http://ito.gn.apc.org/bm
Please download and seed this video which is very funny as well as
making
a serious anti-war point.

| | MS Powerarchiver by
hartlyuk@yahoo.com
I cannot get MS PowerArchiver at public library to split my AVI files
into smaller chunks and then store the chunks back onto my digital
camera.
HOWEVER, it WILL do it and store it on the computer's 'c'
harddrive,BUT this only has a 100Mb capacity and therefore cannot fit
the whole file on.
Please inform any ways around this problem.
Thanks, Paul.

| | Sony NP-FA70 camcorder battery - stuck/removal issues by
deepankar.datta@gmail.com
Hi
Just to post about the high-capacity NP-FA70 camcorder battery that is
used with the HC90 and some other types of camcorder. As the battery
is bigger than the FA50 that comes with the camera it takes up the
whole width of the battery slot and has problems with getting stuck.
See http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t119765.html
The easiest way to remove it is to hold the battery tab and see if...

| | Disc Printing by
Asky
Can anyone recommend a disc labelling program that has good output options
for artwork. Most programs I have used are good at local printing, etc but
don't offer much in the way of exporting files. I want to be able to output
various formats when sending artwork for larger replication runs of CDs and
DVDs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi all,
I am struggling with my IEEE firewire connection for quite some time
now. I have sony DCR HC18 MiniDV camcorder and my PC has Windows XP.
The problem is that the when I use the IEEE card to transfer video, the
camcorder is not recognised, and I get a message something like "Either
no video capture driver is installed in this system, or no device is
connected". I have tried VideoStudio,...

vj
Hi all,
I posted this query in uk.rec.video.digital some days back but haven't
got any suggestions yet. I post it again in a hope to get some help.
I am trying to transfer my videos from my Sony MiniDV camcorder to my
PC Hard disk, and then eventually to a CD.
I have following queries:
(1) What file format (e.g. AVI, MPEG etc) is a good choice that gives
small file size without compromising on...
