Panasonic VDR-M55 Help by Sharky
Hi. I just bought this DVD Video camera for my wife as a christmas present. I opened up the packaging and now I'm playing around with it so I can become familiar with it before she gets it Christmas morning. I plan on using it to record video mainly, it will take still photos also, and I want to be able to upload the video onto the computer, edit it and then burn the clips back onto...

Capture settings for DV to PC by John
I have never captured video from a camcorder to pc via a DV cable previously and just had a couple of questions. When you are capturing video from your camcorder to computer using the DV cable, what capture settings do you use in your program? I am just using Nerovision Express 3 and there are a few main options of DVD, SVCD, Nero Digital and Custom. In the DVD category would you just stick...

I bought a brand new np-f960 and a seperate charger off Ebay and have charged that so I know I've a charged battery to test it with but it's still dead. :-( Anyone know of any reason it won't power on or anywhere that can fix

Replacement for dead Canon MV400i by Charlie King
My first DV camera is on its way out - it has served me well and I have always been pleased with the results. My only quibbles have been the amount of its own transport noise that it records, and I have no idea why I forked out extra for a DV-in featu I have only ever used the out, and then burned to DVD or VCD. It's now started to chew tapes. I'm looking for a replacement, and my main...

Firewire Cables by John
I was wanting to get a Firewire cable to transfer video from my camcorder to my computer to edit. I was looking in the high street because I needed one quick, as I am going to try and make a home DVD for someone for a christmas present. When I saw the prices in comparison to the internet prices, I was pretty gob smacked! £20 in the high street and about £2 on the internet! Looks like...

PD170 neutral density / focus issues by gavf
Hello Folks Has anyone experienced the following issue - if so do you have any answers / get arounds. Using a PD170 (or 150) and it calls for the ND 1 or ND2 filter to be used, I have found on a couple of occassions that having these filters dialled in seems to have a bad affect on the focussing - in that it can become very difficult to get the subject in focus - you can travel through the...

No preview during capture on computer monitor by Luis Ortega
I just installed Avid Xpress Pro 5.2.1 and when I bring up the capture window and start to capture I can see the video on my external tv set but there is no preview window showing the video on the computer monitor. After the capture, the clip is fine and it shows up as normal on the source or timeline monitor windows in the Avid editor. I used to be able to see what was being played while...

Transferring Phillips Recordable DVD to PC by Dancing Homer
My Dad has transfered some of his HI-8 video onto a dvd via his Phillips DVD recorder. The DVD plays fine on my DVD player, but what i would really like to do it 'extract' the 'video file' and edit it on my pc (there are lots of messy bits etc), and make it into a proper home movie. How is the best way to do this? I'm bit of a novice really, I currently transfer my own video (digital 8) to my...

Premiere Pro by Jakub Gaudasinski
Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you could tell me whether Adobe Premiere Pro is capable of separating a length of DV video footage into consecutive frames and saving each as a bitmap file. I think this can be done manually but I need to do it as a batch process. Thank you for your time. If I can clarify the inquiry in any way, do let me know. Many thanks, J.

Help - can't get freeview anything! by dunkan
OK, it's a complex setup, but I would REALLY appreciate some advice... First, everything worked beautifully with an old Nokia digital freeview box - problems began when it went wrong after a couple of years, and I substituted a new Matsui... We have a Tivo and a DVD recorder. The freeview box plugs into the Tivo via SCART, and to the TV through a usual UHF lead. External aerial goes to...
