| | PVR File Systems by
Geoff Lane
I recently naively thought I could remove the HD from my Philips DVD
Hard Drive recorder, copy the data over to my computer and then free up
some space.
On connecting it to my Linux machine the partition editor (gparted)
showed it as an unformatted drive.
Does anyone know if there is any way I can read this data and/or copy it
over.

| | Vidomi Options by
Geoff Lane
Mr Fix It recently gave a very detailed description how to convert WinTV
files using Vidomi to make them more compatible.
Unfortunately the files still didn't play on my Iomega screenplay but if
I use ProjectX and imago-mpeg to demux then remux to a VOB file then it
plays perfectly.
Has anyone any suggestions for alternative settings on Vidomi to do
similar as at least it would be simpler...

| | Vidomi Versions by
Geoff Lane
Vidomi was recently recommended to me to resolve some sound sync problems.
Unless I am getting confused here it appears that there have been no
updates since 2002.
Is this the case or am I mistaken.

| | 30fps video to UK PAL DVD judder problem by
John Smith[_2_]
Hi all
I have a Sanyo Xacti camcorder which produces excellent looking video
when connected to PC or HDTV but I have a problem when creating a DVD
for UK PAL player. In any moving scene the video has a jerky effect as if
1 in every 6 frames has been removed, I'm wondering if in the transcoding
that
the frametrate has been dropped to 25fps to play on a UK system and if this
is
the case if there...

| | Problem Playing MPEGs by
Geoff Lane
My daughter has a WinTV PVR900 device.
She recently recorded 4 programs, each play fine in VLC but using
Windows Media Player or an Iomega media player device (No computer
needed) I get major sound video sync problems.
What would be the reason for this.

| | Remaker (like AVS Video Remaker) for dvr-ms (Windows Media Center) files by
Mortimer
I've got AVS Video Remaker and it's great for top'n'tailing and removing
commercials, and then creating a DVD. But it can't handle dvr-ms (Windows
Media Center) files.
Is there an equivalent program which will remake these files without
recompressing the whole file and will then create a DVD.
Unfortunately my Windows Vista PC almost always crashes ("Program X has
stopped responding. It will be...

| | Iomega ScreenPlay TV Link by
Geoff Lane
Bought one of these devices at Christmas, tried three different external
HDs attached to the device and none worked; all reported the correct
size but stated 'unknown partition'.
All three HDs work fine connected to XP, Vista or Linux but not the
ScreenPlay.
Strangely two USB flash drives showed up fine.
Anyone had similar problems.

| | Problem making Media Center geneate video DVDs by
Mortimer
Has anyone had problems making Windows Media Center generate video DVDs?
I've got Vista Home Premium SP1 which includes Media Center. I can record to
dvr-ms format via my Pinnacle USB Freeview device. But when I try to write
the files to video DVD, either using the built-in mechanism of Media Center
or using the standalone DVD Maker app of Vista, it will get part of the way
through the...

| | need name of software package (video generator) by
Mike Scott
I chanced on an intriguing freeware package a couple of weeks ago.
Sounds daft perhaps, but I seem not to have bookmarked the web pages
(nor can I find it in the browser history), and my mind has completely
blanked both the name and how I stumbled upon it.
It was a drawing package, allowing frames of video to be defined from
basic shapes and operations. Programmed in scheme, if I recall, and...

| | Thomson TUTV pvr, How to? by
Adice Please
Hi
The brief version first:
I have a Thomson 160gb PVR (DVB-T) originally supplied at cut price as
package with Top Up TV.
If I remove the smart card (TUTV, Sedanta etc) I also lose access to all
other features such as the EPG and the archived programs on the HDD.
A dialog appears on screen that those features are only available as
part of the subscription to TUTV. Without the card it is a basic...

| | PVR Recording Axillary Input by
Geoff Lane
I have a Philips PVR (DVDR7260H), one of the inputs is a DV I-link
(which I understand is a Firewire connector) used to connect a camcorder
to the PVR.
Does the PVR scan the connected device for viewable files or would the
camcorder device have some form of server to make the files viewable.

| | Best Editing for AVCHD Camera by
BernieFlyer
Hi
I have recently purchased a Panasonic HDC-SD9 video camera and hope the
group might help with a couple of things:-
1. The camera creates a new file for every scene. When I create a DVD with
the HD Writer software there is a pause between scenes. Is there a way
around this? I have tried Nero and it does the same thing.
2. I would like to get a more sophisticated and easy to use software...

Can you record consecutive digital programs on disc from different channels,
as can with tape, so enabling viewing as a single stream without having to
adjust the settings when progressing from one program to the next?

| | Cheap DVD recorder with 8 hour record? by
Dave Farrance
Anybody know if there's a cheap DVD recorder capable of recording at
least eight hours? It's for a video capture application where quality
isn't an issue, so a cheap analogue-only dvd recorder from a supermarket
would be fine.

| | DVD Cover by
John[_7_]
Can anyone advise what type of glossy paper (weight wise) is about
right for the DVD covers that go inside the plastic on the outside of
the DVD? e.g. 100gsm, 120gsm?
Some of the DVDs I have the paper does seem pretty thin but when I
have been looking for glossy paper for this I don't seem to have been
able to find much below about 190gsm.
Thanks,
