I've just got a spanking new computer. Not having the confidence to
build my own I ordered one from Elonex whose PCs I've had for some time
and with which I am really happy.
I installed a Pinnacle card in my old PC and had intended to move it to
the new one. However, it is apparent that the new PC has an IEEE1394
connector on the motherboard but Elonex don't, for some reason, connect
them...

| | Black screen capture problem - Premiere bad, Windows MM good. by
michael@entamedia.com
Hi,
I've searched all the groups and found some references to this problem
but no real specific answers.
Trying to capture video using 2 month old Dell Desktop PC and Sony
DCR-PC110E PAL Dv Cam. All I get in premiere (pro, 1.5) is a black
screen, but
the controls do make the camera rewind/fwd,play ete. Record only
records black, no audio.

| | Editing HDV by
Ben
ow is this being done? As I understand it, the options are;
1) Edit HDV by decoding the whole GOP and then re-encoding it, which
sounds very lossy to me
2) Convert to a more lightly compressed intermediate format (presumably
using only intra-frame compression, like DV) and edit that.
I'm guessing people are going for the 2nd option, but which intermediate
codec is being used, and are any of...

G Hardy
Possibly. Even if it's not the cause, it won't do any harm to replace it.
Do you have the manual, or do you need instructions?
It could also be that the battery is completely f*ck*d. My understanding is
that leaving certain Li-ion batteries to discharge entirely, or for long
periods on trickle charge, is bad for them. Don't know if the Canons are the
same, but it might be worth trying a new...

Hi everyone,
It's all change at HVB Hall and I feel it's time to cast off my old
camcorder in favour of something with more manual control.
My old cam is a Sony TRV-22, which though small and basic, has served
me very well since I bought it.

Hello.
Does anyone know offhand if the Philips Streamium products will play
..ISO files of DVDs? If not, how difficult is it to convert the DVDs
into a suitable format for playing on the Streamium devices?
Thanks in advance for any help,

| | Camcorder clubs in decline? by
Rebekah
Hi All,
What are your views on organised amateur film-making? Are
organisations in decline? Are forums replacing face-to-face clubs?
We're doing a research project at the University of London on
'Camcorder Cultures' and would be very interested in hearing your
views on these questions:
a) Have you been a member of a film-making club? Was/is it useful, fun,
a waste of time, a socially...

| | Query - JVC HD Camcorder by
Bev
Looking for some help please.
I have just had a new JVC Everio HD Camcorder. I would like to have the
date on the footage when I have put it on a DVD but when I transfer the
footage from the camera to my PC there is no date. Is it possible to do
this? Or can this only be done when transfering from camcorder direct to VCR
or DVD Recorder?
Any help is appreicated.

I would like to buy a digital camcorder. I only want to make short films

Thank you for your help.

| | Camcorder accessory light by
Harman Sanghera
Hi All,
I've got a Panasonic NV-GS150. Whilst it's excellent outdoors, it's indoor
capabilities, especially in restrcited light, are somewhat less desirable.
So, I'm in the market for a video light.
Panasonic's effort "PANASONIC Flash VW-FLH3E" is a 3W model that Pixmania
sell for £88.
Any other suggestions for other makes that would do the job as well?
TIA
