| | Tape brands vs MiniDV cam brands by

I have to recommend a MiniDV camera to a friend, and whilst I always
stick to a brand that I trust - has a very low failure rate for me, I
would
like to know if buying a different brand would make a huge difference.
I am going to spec a Sony (spit) MiniDV camera, and I know Sony make...

| | Recommend camcorder for film student? by
Nildram news
Hi,
Could anyone recommend a good buy for a camcorder for a budding film
student - price ~£1000.. could stretch a bit if I was going to get years of
service from it, but not much...
I think that it should have miniDV, manual focus and zoom rings, decent 10x
zoom, zebra striping, progressive scan/cinema mode, ideally some gamma
setting, decent low light performance, obviously excellent picture...

| | software control of camcorder by
Dean
I am looking to buy my first camcorder and perhaps invest in some video
editing software. Though I expect I will make do with Windows movie maker
to begin with.
When connecting the camera via firewire, what do you need to ensure full
compatibility for controlling the camera from within an application? Is
this dependent on the application, some camera specific firewire driver
and/or the camera...

Copied directly from a post in another ng, obviously a lot of unhappy
customers. However, I'm not 100% sure I sympathise with the Guy (and his
Wife) who continually buy the every "updated" version of Pinnacle in the
hope that they've finally cured the bugs!!

| | Sony HVR-Z1U firewire transfer? by
Mark S.
I've got a firewire lead for my Sony Z1U (didn't get one when I
bought the camera) and the pc detects it when it's connected.
Adobe Premiere doesn't know it's there when you are looking in the
import/capture bits.
Is there a driver/program to give Premiere a pointer as to the
camera's where abouts?

| | Help with what equipment is needed by
MikeS
I'm a member of a camera club and we are going to get a digital projector,
to use in competitions in my camera club.. We are still using a slide
projector but as the number of people taking slide photographs is dwindling
we decided to make a start on digital projection.
There is an argument as to whether we need a high end lap top or a basic
one. We all agree we should get the best projector we...

Seventhson
I have a dvd of my sisters band that I need to adjust the sound on as the
singer is more prominent than everything else due to the sound being taken
from the pa system. How can I level everything out to a reasonable level to
then burn to another dvd? What programs should I use?
Thanks

| | reliable camcorder JVC/Sony? by
Hoodoo
Hello everyone,
I've finally come to the end of my tether with my Canon MV6i which has given
me nothing but trouble since the guarantee ran out.Could anybody advise me
on a reliable model for around £500 - £700?
My friend has a Sony that's done sterling service so I'm quite interested in
them,
especially the DCR-HC90 - does anyone own one?

Ian Pollard
Hi
I am very new to video on a PC and was wondering if there is a
straight forward way of converting and playing back on a DVD player, a
DVD recorded from SKY on my PC. Excuse the ignorance but I am sure
someone out there has the answer.

| | Differences between Panasonic NVGS140 and NVGS150? by
jkn
Hi All
I've been investigating buying my first Camcorder and have been
considering the Panasonic NV-GS150. A local S/Hand shop has an
NV-GS140, which I can find little information on. Can anyone advise
what the main difference between these models are?
Thanks

John Russell
Sony are abandoning the use of the downsampling trigger on recorded HD
disks when HD players are connected to non-copy protected displays in the
short term.
Evidently the system is too simple, it's all or nothing. No one considered
that a significant number of early HD adopters would not have the copy
protected interface, and these the users expected to buy HD/Blue Ray players
