| | Seek secret camcorder (like TV documentaries) by
p.valente@email.it
Anne R ha scritto:
I'm in the UK and am looking for a secret camcorder similar to what
they probably use in TV documentaries.
I'm getting really messed up by a doctor (NHS hospital doc) and I
want to record the stuff I have to go through in consultations as
proof for a complaint. The consultations are only discussion and not
a physical exam. Hard to explain but can't change doc...

| | Depth titles by
Asky
Can anyone here advise me on how best to achieve this titling effect? You
know the popular one in TV adverts right now where the titles appear to hang
in mid-air between everything at appropriate angles and movement giving
depth. Channel 4 do an even more sophisticated take on this.
I don't need that level but would like to add more depth to titles, etc. If
its of any use here, I use Sony...

| | Advice - making an animated video clip by
DavidM
I'm in the process of producing a home movie of a recent holiday,
(editing on PC, adding transitions, titles, sound etc then burning to
DVD). I want to add a clip of a map with an extending line showing
the route we took (like wot you sometimes see on the TV travel progs).
I've tried capturing a still frame from the video, noting it's size (ie X x
Y
pixels), taking a photo of a suitable map...

| | Video Format Conversion by
Tony Morgan
Once in a while we come across software that is not only very useful,
but is inexpensive. The AVS Video Converter is one such example. Not
only is the AVS Video Converter very good, it is simple to use.
Essentially, it provides video conversion between any/all of AVI (DivX,
XviD, etc.), DV AVI, MP4 (inc. Sony PSP and Apple iPod), WMV, 3GP, 3G2,
QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO,MPG,...

| | USB adapter by
G Hardy
I got a selection of USB adapters off ebay - it was a couple of quid cheaper
to do it that way than buy the one I needed (USB A female to mini-USB male)
from Maplin.
One of the half dozen or so redundant adapters is a four-pin firewire to USB
A, while another is six-pin firewire to USB A (all male).
What possible use are they? Initially I thought power, but then one side
would need to be...

| | bulk_capture by
fisheye
Normally when I edit, I carefully assemble selected shots from DV master
onto my HD. This time using hired eqpmnt,I've got very limited time left on
which to select shots from DV master to my PC. Any suggestions as to how
much I footage I can capture at once without creating files that are too
large for my PC to open (so that I can return and edit shots individually) -
or any other suggestions to...

| | recover deleted video by
misterroy
My hard disk was almost fill, I did a search for big files and the
results showed there was two copies of each of my big files, 1Gb and
more so I deleted one of each. Then I noticed each time I deleted one
file, two went. I tried two file recovery programs, but no luck, (the
files were too big for delete bin).
Any ideas how to get them back?

| | Any way to create a HD DVD using DVD/R blanks? by
quigleyfam@gmail.com
There are many units which are able to play high definition video
files, either from a DVD, a network or a connected hard disk, such as:
Pinnacle Showcenter 200, Avel Linkplayer 2, Buffalo LinkTheater,
Zensonic Z5000, Snazio 1350, KiSS DP-600, Freecom Network
MediaPlayer-35, TransGear DVX-700
Many of them will play m2t files from the HC1, WMV HD, DivX HD or MPEG2
files.

| | Seinheisser MKE 300 mics by
Asky
Can anyone tell me how to notice the difference physically between a 300 and
300D mic. I have purchased a 300D which is only stamped MKE 300 on the mic
and the box has a 300D label deliberately covering the original box printing
'MKE300'. This has been purchased from a well known company. Surely its
not what I think?

| | External Hard Drives by
Alan S.
I am looking to increase my HD storage for video editing and have been
expecting to use a Firewire external hard disc.
However, locally, it seems to be near impossible to get a Firewire drive.
All retailers seem to offer is USB2.
I know that USB2 is faster than USB1 but is it fast enough for video
editing on PC (with Premiere 6.5, incidentally)? Or should I stick to my
guns and buy Firewire...

| | Sony remote control tripods by
Dean
Is the zoom control on any/all of these Sony tripods,
such as http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=VCT-D480RM
progressive (as on the camera itself), or is it fixed speed?
If it's fixed, is it fast or slow wrt to the range of zoom speed offered by
the camera itself?
Thanks for any help.

| | Overheating by
G Hardy
I'm getting corruption on my DV captures after three full tapes or so.
Leaving the camera unplugged for an hour seems to sort it, suggesting it's a
heat problem. Am I expecting too much in capturing a lot like this, or is it
a sign there's something that needs attention?

| | Canon XL2 to Cambridge DV burner by
fisheye
I've been dubbing off rushes onto my PC via firewire without any
difficulties. However, as soon as I plug the camera into my Cambridge
all-region DVD recorder it cannot find the camera. Since my PC has limited
HD capacity, I was hoping that this would provide a means to capture DV
footage using a digital link instead of S-Video.
Any suggestions gratefully received

| | DV2TV by
Stuart McKears
I've written a small program which takes dv avi files and sends them direct to a
Microsoft DV Camera and VCR direct show object.
Drag and drop the AVI files into a list, tick the ones to show and the prog will
send them sequentially and, if selected, will continually loop.
This is not a commercial prog, not only are the error messages wonderfully
comprehensive - typical error message is "Error...

| | Buzzing sound - second opinion needed by
Grumps
Hi
I bought a Sony HC96 and am not 100% sure it does not have a problem. When
the unit is either playing or recording, there is an audible buzzing sound
coming from the tape transport (right hand side). Some of this sound is
recorded in the right audio channel. It's not loud, but it is there. Is this
typical of compact camcorders?

| | Camcorder Rip-Off by
John
I am just writing to let you know about how my father got completely
ripped off when he bought a new camcorder recently.
He was on holiday in the Canary Islands and was looking at Camcorders
in an electronics shop. He was looking at one Camcorder that he liked
the look of but then the people working at the shop told him that he
didn't want that one when he could have this other one that was...

| | Recommendations for camcorder by
hicks@bigmailbox.net
I'm looking for a good camcorder. It will get relatively light use, but
I do want a good picture quality. It will be used to record family
holidays etc. I don't require it to have lots of features. DV in
capability isn't required.
I'm interested in the Sony DCR-HC94, since it has a 3 Megapixel CCD.
Can anyone comment on this model, or suggest alternatives in the price
range £300 - £450. The...
