| | Can I attach a microphone to this Samsung Sports Camcorder? (model:VP-X220L) by
ship
Hi
I have acquired a Samsung Sports Camcorder (model: VP-X220L)
and need to attach an external microphone to it.
Unfortunately it is a model which is 2 or 3 years old now but it was
'top-of-the-range' at the time - (it even has 2GB of internal memory!)
Samsung's website don't mention any accessories at all for it now.

John[_9_]
From my research TestFreaks.co.uk looks quite useful for aggregating
reviews from elsewhere.
From what I can see the Panasonic SDR-S26 looks quite promising (about
£181) but no sign of an external microphone hole. ??
Camcorders - SD Camcorders - SDR-S26 - Specification - UK & Ireland
The Samsung VP-MX20 also looks quite promising (£132) but again no
sign of any way of connecting an external...

All,
I would like to make my own "Real Life Videos" for Tacx indoor cycling
trainers (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmQ3NXw9-BE). This involves
filming the road ahead from a car (or motorcycle) as you drive (usually up a
big mountain:).
The requirements are-
High Quality
Good Stabilizer (I assume)

| | Canon VIXIA HF S100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder by
Just D
All,
Any positive feedback after using Canon VIXIA HF S100 Flash Memory High
Definition Camcorder or how it is called in Europe? Its price is getting
down, it's around $900 now, I just made one company drop $200 from the price
because of the competitors. But I'm still not sure if it makes sense to buy
it. On one hand - it's the very best in this class, it's HD, it's using SDHC
and a 32GB...

| | DV = Computer by
Just D
All,
Have you ever heard about some device that could be used to copy the DV
tapes to the computer? I used Canon GL2 to create many tapes. Some of them
are already permanently located on my RAID array, but this is a huge amount
of data and I'd prefer to use a simle quick way of copying these tapes, but
I don't want to use camcorder for this operation. So the question appeared -
is it...

| | Unwanted 'Filmic' Effect on Computer Edited Video by
John W[_2_]
Hello all,
I wondered if someone could help me. I have copied some video off my MiniDV
camera onto my computer via an IEE1394 cable using Windows Movie Maker set
to 25fps PAL. I edited the video and added captions etc. then saved the
edited video as an AVI 25fps PAL. When I play this AVI video using GOM
Player it looks great.
Things start to go wrong though when I try to create a DVD...

| | Canon GL2 Firmware by
Just D
All,
Have you ever heard about possible firmware upgrades for Canon DV camcorders
like GL2? There are couple very annoying things in this camcorder and I'm
not sure if that already fixed or not.
1. This camcorder supports SDHC media cards, it's easy to find that on the
Internet. But the trap is that these cards can only be used for the photos
with the great fine resolution - 1.7 MPx. So you...

| | Video editing on linux by
Peter Chant
Any suggestions?
kino does not seem to allow me to overlay audio over video. Looks like you
can splice videos end to end and that's it.
kdenlive seems good but is a little flakey, with transitions very flakey.
cinelerra - I have no idea what is going on there.
Thanks,

| | (Partly) OT : NASA video projection onto 6-foot sphere by
Neil Smith [MVP Digital Media]
Might be of interest to some :
This landed in my mail from the NASA mailing list.
I'm sure somebody will chip in to say it's already been done, but I
thought it was a nice idea and the movie is available to the public
internationally (that is, as long as you're in either the USA or
Strasbourg, France !)
Cheers - Neil

| | Mencoder for mpeg2 on Linux by
Geoff Lane
I need to convert some .mov files to mpeg2 using Linux.
I understand mencoder to be a useful utility and have tried this
resulting in an mpeg4 output; I need mpeg2 to play on a specific device.
I find the various codec references a wee bit confusing so would
appreciate any hints if possible.
Many thanks,

| | Pixel Burn by
John[_8_]
I have an issue with my Canon ZR MiniDV camcorder. I have one pixel
fairly central in the middle of the screen that is burnt out.
Unfortunately it is showing in all my footage. Is there any software
that can get rid of this noise afterwards when I am transferring to my
computer and editing?
I also just wondered if anyone has a webspace explaining all the
different consumer camcorder choices both...

| | Sony FX1000E by
Alan S.
I'm looking to replace an elderly VX1000 camera and the FX1000 looks
tempting. I want to continue recording to DV tapes so the options in the
consumer market are limited now.
Has anyone in the group had experience of the FX1000, good or bad?
Thanks for your input.

| | Panasonic HDC-SD9 & HDC-SD1 camcorders by
No Spam
Hi,
I know that the HDC-SD1 is no longer in production so is not listed on the Panasonic web
site but I have been offered one pre-owned for less than the cost of a
new HDC-SD9.
Is anyone familiar with these models?
Are there any serious technical differences between the 2 cameras that
anyone is aware of?
