Recording Indoor Gigs by Alan Monaghan
Can anyone tell me if a camcorder's internal mic can handle loud music (not clipping/distorted) a few metres away from loudspeakers by adjusting the volume alone. OR Will I require an external mic? Thanks,

Music on a dvd from a wedding and copyright. by techD
Hi - I have been asked to prepare a dvd of a wedding from someones dv-camcorder tape. They want the music which played at their wedding on the dvd and the camcorder sound obviously ins't high enough quality - meaning I will mix in a high quality track. They may also offer it for sale to their guests etc. I do not intend with the amount of time it will take to do it for free - but my...

Monitoring sound levels when editing videos by DavidM
When editing and producing home videos I'm having problems in getting a consistent audio volume across multiple clips and/or videos. The result is complaints from SWMBO about having to keep adjusting the volume on the DVD player. What would be useful is a program that monitors the sound level being output to the PCs audio output and displays this either as a graph over time, or just VU meter...

Damaged MiniDV Tape by P & L
Not sure if this is the best newsgroup but.. Unpacking one of our suitcases from holiday, we found that a couple of hair shampoo bottles leaked in our suitcase and into one of the MiniDV tape from our holiday (was forced to put tape in case at airport check-in due to security measures). The tape does appear to have some shampoo inside the casing, but not sure how much.

How can I burn movies to play them in my DVD? by Gyuri
Hi. My question is not as stupid as it seems to be in the subject don't worry. I was just wondering if there's a way to burn my 700MB DVD-RIP movies to a DVD5 CD (4.7GB) and then being able to play them in a TV DVD Player. With Nero 7 Premium I got plenty choice except what I really want to do. Nero allows me to burn a 700MB movie or whatever is the size of the video and fit it on a 4.7GB DVD CD....

GR-DX77 sound problem after repair by Geoff Sharpe
I bought a JVC GR-DX77 last January. It's been excellent and I've used about 1 tape per month to record my daughter who was born in March 05. At the beginning of the year I started getting problems (most notably 'condensation, please wait' randomly appearing). I returned it to Comet and when it came back the repair note said they had replaced the tape deck. Everything seemed fine until yesterday...

Hitachi mx100e vcr & tuning Freeview channels by moodom@hotmail.com
I've recently bought a freeview box which works fine. I've connected everything up correctly and can still use my vcr to record from terrestrial TV as before. However, I've misplaced the instructions to my vcr so I am at a loss to know how to 'tune in' the Freeview channels, should I ever want to record them. Can anyone help?

Adobe Premiere pro 1.5 error question by No_Spam
Hi Everyone, can someone please tell me what causes a Multiplex error when rendering with Adobe media encoder ? My daughters on a media course (and I would have thought that the supposed tutors would have known how to solve this, but it just goes to show...). She's rendered a 100 minute program as 2 50 minute sections, the first,

MiniDV nearing it's End? by John Russell
According to many reviews of 2006 camcorders, miniDv is nearing it's End. More and more DVD camcorders are being bought, and the future appears to be Hard Drive recorders, and solid state after that. Well all that may be true, but reviews also show that their demise is going to a blaze of glory. Needing a second hand held camcorder, I was surprised to see how cheap Sony's top end HC96 was,...

NTSC miniDV recording required in UK by Colin McCormick
All I would like to borrow a miniDV tape in the UK with an NTSC recording on it, or will swap for an unused tape. The reason being, I have a PAL Sony DCR-HC14E which I believe will play NTSC recordings, there are several mentions of this on web sites. The manual does not imply this to be the case however. So the only way to be sure is to try an NTSC recording. I would expect playback to be...

Where do you get your music licences? by G Hardy
I've asked this in here as there may be a few wedding videographers out there who actually licence the music on their vids. If anyone knows of a more relevant forum, please feel free to correct me. Is videolicence.co.uk as cheap as I can get? I've got a non-wedding, annual project which (to date) has always had royalty-free music on it. This year, one of the contributors wants to use a licensed...

cheap 'semi-professional' camera? by Dave1
Hello. I'm looking for advice. I'd like to buy a 'semi-professional' mini-DV camcorder that is not too expensive, ideally £1000 - £1500. I particularly want something with a good sound recorder. So far these look interesting:- http://www.dsvideo.tv/panasonic_29.php

Archos AV 500 + Bullet Cam by trezaei@gmail.com
Hi folks. I was hoping your video expertise could point me in the right direction. I own an Archos AV500 DVR and an unmarked (Sony CCD) Bullet cam. When I set the bit rate on my Archos to record at anything over 500 K/s after it records about 100MB of video it somehow corrupts the file. If I set it to 500k/s it seems I can record as much as I want. 1) I was wondering, is it possible that...

Sky dish by philip
Hi, I have just moved into a house where there is a sky dish but we are in an area where Freeview is unavailable and the TV ariel was dated (never replaced). However, I am left with a Sky box (the basic free programs) where I can only watch the TV in the living room downstairs. Is it possible, with these available equipment, bring the cable to the rooms upstairs.? REgards, Philip
