Last night I recorded 118mins of miniDV footage onto a DVD-RW disc via firewire from Canon MV900 to Liteon LVW 5006 standalone DVD Recorder. I did it twice as the first -RW disc had a scratch which ruined the recording. So it records in real time great! BUT I think it recorded in 4:3 rather then widescreen as when I brought up the display while playing back the DVD it said 4:3. It is fullscreen...

I have a JVC camcorder which records to hard drive. The files are given a.MOD format. This format is not recognised by Adobe Premiere Pro. Does any one have any suggestions to help me with this problem? I have tried Xilisoft file converter but converting the files with this programme reduces their size and quality below an acceptable level.

If I was to burn a Dual Layer Disc in a PC Burner would this play on standalone dvd players/recorders (a recorder which doesn't support dual layer writing) or would it be an invalid disc. Hi I had an idea instead of connecting my MiniDV cam to computer via firewire and transferring the tape at 13gb an hour in order to edit - just burn a DVD-RW on my DVD Recorder then import the .vob files off the disc onto the computer using much less hard drive space. I downloaded the same fragments from the camcorder a few hours later, got the same set of DV files, sizes are absolutely equal. The byte to byte comparison shows that these files are not equal and are having some minor differences like 1 byte every Kbyte or something like that. Why? I was expecting...

Hi all, I'm writing an article on camcorders and camcorder formats and would like to speak to anyone who uses either HDD, DVD or Mini DV models about the benefits and drawbacks of these formats in everyday use and from an editing point of view.
