"victor voul" wrote... Am doing a family history video project centered on interviews with a couple about to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I plan to insert old photos at appropriate places, and was wondering if anyone has come across a source of archival video stock footage you can download or purchase. Videos that would show old footage from the 1920's 30's, ...

Nervous Noob by Keri
Just to update in case anyone reads this...I bought the MV600i, and am well pleased with it! I found some good advice on a thread somewhere, and have ordered a back copy of PC Tools magazine (May 02) which has a full version of Pure Emotion's Edit Studio (version 2) which I will hopefully be able to upgrade for £20 on their website. I ordered a cheap FireWire card from Dabs (£11.75 in vat and...

Adobe announces Premiere Pro by Dave R
In case folks haven't seen this, it may be of interest. Looks like it's revamped significantly. Needs XP though :( Looks like I'll be sticking with 6.0 or switching to Vegas then. Expected release in August, but no trial version as yet. - Dave.

is there a consumer way to get better than DVD video by Jim
I suspect not, just curious if it can be done atm. I play most my videos on a high-end PC monitor, with 2048*1536 resolution and DVI interconnects. If I take a full relolution pic form my digital camera, scale it down to a lower resolution like 640*480 (which I /think/ is about dvd quality) and then back up again to fit the screen it is of noticably lower quality. The difference isn't huge,...

how to enable DV-in by Felix Luther
Dear uk.re.video.digital users, I was hoping to get some advice from the group; I've tried all other avenues. Here's my situation: - I have a Sony PC101 that I bought in Ecuador to film my travels in South America. Now I've returned I want to mix my digital footage with vhs footage I have from previous trips. - The Sony PC101 has the capability, but not all of the products were

Studio 8......Dropped frames on DV output......Update by Paul
In an effort to try to cure the Dropped frame problem, I ditched studio 8 and got Vegas 4. Vegas is extremely good, With more control over the edit than Studio offers and no glitches at all. I Recaptured my film and edited it. I output it to the camcorder and to my horror exactly the same problem of dropped frames occured......completly random, although usually about 30 sec to a minute apart

Digitizing NTSC VHS videos by Stefan Moers
Hello I have the following problem: I want to digitize a VHS Tape, recorded in the USA. We tried with a TV Card, but it seems, that the card does not support the NTSC format. The recorded video was black/white and was flickering at the lower part of the screen.

Editing Video From Canon Ixus v3 by Mark \(UK\)
Hi all, I'm new to digital video editing, and have installed a copy of Adobe Premier 6.0. I was hoping to load up some avi files from my hard drive in order to crop some frames and set them up for online streaming. The problem is that the avi files were recorded on a Canon Digital Ixus v3, which has compressed the video, and Adobe won't open them, it says it is an incompatible compression. Is...

DVCam recording to mini dv tape, Quality issue ? by Brad Gerrard
Hi, If I use a sony dcr vx9000e camera that uses DVcam tape to record something, then edit on pc, and print to mini dv tape, is the quality reduced by going to mini tape, rather than dvcam tape? In general is there a difference in quality between dvcam tape and mini dv tape? Thanks,

Pinnacle Studio 8 Output to DV Tape by David Beck
I'm having problems outputting video from Studio 8 to a Panasonic NV-GS70 via IEEE1394 cable. Studio 8 begins the process and I can see my camcorder go into pause and then record mode, the initial frame is frozen (all this seems to be as expected), then when the software switches the camcorder into record mode, it records approx 1 second (probably less) of video and then no more seems to be...

VHS Tape Capture Advice Please? by Spidey
Hi, I'd like to start a business in my local town offering a VHS --- DVD conversion service. I've got a DVD writer but find the area of Video Capture Cards and Editing Software to be very confusing. WinTV seem to do some cheap home products but this kit must be too cheap to use as...
