| | saving an avi file / Sony Veritas software by
Mick
I want to save an avi file to a dvd. (Not convert it, just save it as a
backup.). It's 4.2G but Nero states it's too big to be saved in ISO format
and to choose another one but I don't really know how to and still save the
avi formatting.
Also the Veritas sw that came bundled with my Sony 510A says no recordable
drive found yet Nero finds it without problems as does Premiere. any help
appreciated.

| | VirtualDub filters: can't set a frames' range by
John K.
about VirtualDub:
is it possible to apply a certain filter only to a certain range of the
video?
Currently I've to split the various parts, add the effect, then rejoin..
that's not too comfortable really, for big videos!
Thanks,
John

| | master/slave by
Bcutts
It is not a good idea to have both burner and regular CD/DVD connect
to same IDE port epecially if you want to burn on the fly. It's a good
idea to make both of them SLAVE of hard drives (2 different IDE ports)
Trouble is that you IDE hard drive runs at the speed of the slave device so a
UDMA100 IDE hard drive will cog down to the CD speed. As long as you have burn
protect (or equivalent)...

| | Which DV cam for around £500 by
Simon
I have a £500 for a DV cam with DV-in and need it to work well in low light
and general conditions and be good at focusing at close range too. It will
be used to record various classroom based & workshop activities. Can anyone
recommend a model which might fit this description please?

| | Vegas 4 by
sherlock
If you don't have the main concept mpeg plug-in for Vegas but have a stand
alone version of main concept 1.2 mpeg encoder, is there a way of
integrating with Vegas? If not what would be the best 'format' to source
within the encoder from Vegas before output to mpeg1 or 2?
Thanks for any advice or abuse.

Steve Franklin
I agree. Tony is an absolute knobber. That's why I rarely frequent the
group.
I can only imagine what you are like in the real world Tony.
But I imagine your bio reads a little like this.
1980 - Forcibly removed from the BBC micro club after being involved in what
one member recalls as 'the most vituperative outburst' he had ever seen. The
incident apparently related to a single digit missing...

| | Alternative to Studio 8 by
mike
I've been using Studio 8 for some months now, but am totally fed up with
this bug-ridden software, that crashes every other minute.
Can someone recommend editing software which is fairly easy to use. I'm
probably looking for something in between studio 8 and Adobe Premier (which
I'm struggling to understand!). I just want to do some basic home editing,
nothing too fancy.
Mike.

| | Standby mode on TRV33 by
patnpm@doctors.org.uk
Is there any automatic power off mode on the TRV33? I keep forgetting
to turn the camcorder off and then find the battery run down. My old
Sony Hi8 powered off automatically after 5 minutes of non use. There
must be a setting somewhere on the machine - but I can't find anything
in the manual.
Alternatively is there a TRV33 specific forum I can ask in?
Thanks

| | Digitizing a NTSC Video with PAL VCR by
Stefan Moers
Hello again
Today, I tried again to digitize a NTSC VHS Tape, without any success.
I use a standard german PAL VCR. The output signal, when playing the NTSC
tape
seems to be a PAL signal, but with a vertical frequency of 60Hz.
Any TV is able to sync on this frequency, but the PC TV Card does not.
I get a (colored) picture, but it is not correctly synchronized.
