| | Possibly OT...noisy Sony VCR by
Dave Cordes
I've just purchased a new VCR (Sony SLV-SE730G/I).
Does anyone know if it's normal for the transport mechanism on these models
to emit a mechanical "whine" while playing back tapes (it's definitely the
machine - not tape cassette noise - I've tried several cassettes).
Obviously I'd expect noise whilst fast forward/reversing but not during
playback and whilst only just noticeable when the TV...

Has anybody enabled the DV-in on a Sony TRV238E.
I've downloaded RM95 progs and got a cable diagram.

I'm not sure about the 328E
Cheers

Does anyone have any experience of buying from Digital-Point on the web ?
I'm considering buying a Sony TV (KV32FX68) from their site. I'd like to

| | Newbie considering Sony TRV22.... by
Tumbleweed
......for the mix of features and form factor. Is there anything else I
should be considering in this price range?
Also, if I get this or similar, what extras should I be buying? Is it worth
getting an extended life battery? Should I buy a sony or are there
third-party manufacturers worth considering?
TIA

I am thinking of installing a cctv pvr card in my computer and wonder if
anyone can point of the pros and cons of different types of external

| | Night Shot by
Steve
Would anyone have any knowledge of how good the 'Night shot' feature is on
Sony Mini DV camcorders. I presume it would/could be better/worse depending
on which model but I was just wondering in general terms if it is a feature
worth having. On recent holidays we had the option of doing 'Badger watch'
at which I could see the value of having a very 'Low Lux' feature on a
camcorder but those...

| | How to edit with Studio 8 & render with premiere by
rednose
I read somewhere recently that its better to render your studio 8
project with premiere, as it gives better results and or is quicker.
I've completed my studio project and I can't open it in premiere.
I'm going to output to Dvd, I've done a test disc with studio and the
result is quite good but not as good as the original DV tape.
Any help Appreciated

| | Sony Tapes by
Chris Curtis
Hope this is an OK topic!
I have bought some Sony Tapes from Ebay; they are DVM60R3; they seem to be
widely available in Australia where they are described as Premium Grade
tapes but not marketed as Premium; however in Australia there exists two
types of Excellence tapes; with and without the chip.
I need to know if the ones I have bought are the same as the Premium tapes
sold here or inferior. ...

really quickly, with no quibble!and got the next model up ,the Canon MV630i.
As usual as soon as the battery charged,it poured down for days so i have

| | What happen to optical zoom? by
Pat Carpenter
Even my old Sony DCR-TRV7E has 20x optical and 120x digital zoom, so
what happened? Did the demand go away or isn't there enough room to
fit it in? I did notice that Digital 8 models have up to 25x so what's
the problem?
I use a wide angle lens when required but do I have to buy a
tele-photo as well for the new models?
Help would be appreciated.

| | More than 10x by
David Rowe
Recommendations for digital video for around 1500 Australian dollars (about
100 pounds) no seriously about 700 pounds
That has more than 10x optical zoom. You can discount the canon 650 as
everyone says that low light is terrible.
Like the sony trv 33 but want more optical zoom for surfing??????
