Sony DCRTRV250 in low light by Fruitbat
Hi all. The Sony DCRTRV250 is at a particularly good price here at the moment, and I think we'll get one. The only concern I've noted in reviews on the Net is about low-light performance. Anyone got one and care to comment?

Newbie help needed on Mini-DV & DVC Pro conversion NTSC - PAL by Vincent Rais
Hi, I'm new to this group, and have little experience, trying to help out a friend who made a lot of Mini-DV and DVC Pro tapes in Mexico, and now needs to convert them to PAL format. There are commercial solutions to this, but perhaps there is a (semi) profesional way to do it at home? I'm surrounded here by video geeks, so what I would like to find out, is if there is equipment available (if...

Max bitrate for CD by xEcute
The maximum bitrate for a CD is around 3000 which is usually fine on a PC but from my personal experience with SVCD and DVD players if you take the combines bitrate over 2500 you risk stuttering in fast motion. For SVCD I used 2250 VBR For video and 128-224 for audio which gives good smooth results on most players.

weird problem with mpgs from media studio 7 by Alan Hinchcliffe
i have a weird problem with videos i have created with media studio 7... when i click on these files in windows explorer my screen goes black for a few seconds ( im assuming a video overlay problem caused when explorer tries to read the first frame in order to create a thumbnail of it) these symptoms only affect mpgs in pal dvd mpg2 format 720x576 @ 25fps the problem is not apparent on vcd /...

Long play? by BillyB
Hi All, Is there any obvious disadvantage in using LP? Is the digital quality digitally worse in some way? Lower res or bit depth? If its a digital signal and it works then why use SP? Are there subtle disadvantages in using LP. For example less reliable or more likely to go wrong ? I could imagine that there are "errors" when using the digital media and that these "errors" are covered up. LP...

Stop motion using a DV camera? by BillyB
I used XPs ability to take a picture from the DV. I then used virtualdub to join pics into an AVI. I think I had to convert the jpgs to BMPs. I did this by hand. I'm sure there is a batch app to do this. Ta BB "mjb" wrote in message ... I just read an interesting article about a guy who produced a home-made

External microphone by Margaret Willmer
At the moment we have a mono external microphone (with a battery) which records onto one track. I can't see a way in Studio 8 to duplicate it on to the other track. We would consider buying a new microphone, not an expensive one. My question is does it have to be internally powered or will the external mike socket on the camcorder power it? Canon MV30. Margaret Remove NOSPAM if replying by...

well, what *is* this newsgroup about ? by Albert Fish
it seems, as usual, it's about a cluster of people huddling together in the same pathetic way that same sex, same interest people do in RL only without the obvious comedy value. shockingly, it seems people that are into computers are far more communicative than people into DV camcorders. ergo, if computer geeks only have pc's to download pr0n then camcorder geeks must, surely, be too busy...

EP Mode VCRs? by SkiJumpToes
On Mon, 4 Aug 2003 22:33:37 +0100, "John" Typedy Typed: Also, what DVD recordable standard do you think is likely to win through? I always though the DVD-RW sounded the best, but the only ones I seem to have seen are the +RW, /R and RAM. I should say that the - format will win through, although i expect that most burners will eventually be dual format, along with most...

Mixing different fps clips in Studio 8 by Aidan Brick
I have a small project that I would like to put onto a CDR in SVCD format in Studio 8. It involves an edited 9 minute 25 fps video clip, 30 jpeg photographs and a 3 minute 15 fps video clip (taken with a digital stills camera). Studio 8 reports that it cannot mix 25fps clips and 15 fps in the same project. I can only get the 25 fps clip and jpegs or the 15 fps clip and jpegs onto the SVCD. Is...

I am looking to replace my Sony PC110E with a 3CCD professional camcorder and have found 3 options so far: Sony VX2000 Canon XL1S Canon XM-2 Anyone care to share their experiences on any of the above? I think the XL1S is the one most people are using or have used in the past as it is the one I have saw being used by Ben Dover (I think...) but still keen to know anyones

Motion titles by Dave (R)
I watched a video last night after doing some work on a project, so I was in that frame of mind where I was looking out for how they'd done things. Anyway, they had some very stylish (not OTT) motion titles, with the names of actors etc. What's good software for doing that kind of thing? TIA - Dave.

OT: Slightly, but we require some advice about video capture by Scott
What are the recommendations from the group for a USB 2.0 capture device that can also work with analogue camcorders as well as digital. The cheaper the better please for your recommendations. It would also be preferrable that the device captures using MPEG or MPEG2 and do you know any reasonable retailers that are selling it. We've searched on www.kelkoo.co.uk but video capture devices seem...

Analogue Capture for Premiere 6.5 by Rob
Hello guys, I'm making the shift to digital (cliche now isn't it!?!) and consequently to Adobe 6.5, however, I'd like to know if there is anyway of capturing analogue video with my old DC10+ card to work with Adobe Premiere 6.5 as it seems currently to be unsupported. Failing this, is there either a) a way of capturing analogue video with my firewire card (either through my DV in/out camcorder...

XP and NV-DA1 by MJG
Many months ago tried my Pana NV-DA1 with XP (pro) on my brother-in-law's PC. XP did not recognize my NV-DA1. Tried various combinations of switching on/off connecting etc etc but nothing worked. I understand that compatibility between a NV-DA1 and XP is an issue.
