Has anybody used a Winnov Videum with PE 3? by Blonks
Hi, To try and resolve the problems I had capturing Hi8 video I have obtained a Winnov Videum 1000 plus for good old Ebay! I have been trying various capture formats with my Nvidia wdm driver and PE3 had varous problems trying to import it, it either hung or the video was black corrupted! Has anybody used one of these with Photoshop Elements 3?

USB drive by Mike Gasson
Is a Lacie 7200 320gb USB 2 drive 'adequate' to capture from mini-dv or is it only good enough for storage after capture with the IDE drive? I believe USB 2 is 480Mb/s but I'm not sure what the 4200 drive would transfer at. XPH SP2 Athlon 64 3700+ 1gb memory 80gb 4200 HD. Thanks. -- bertiebaby

Can't capture from a dvd by Luis Ortega
I have a series of student films saved to a dvd disk and I want to capture parts of some projects to create a short video of segments from each film. I tried capturing from the dvd drive into Premiere Pro but Premiere's capture would not work. I also tried playing the dvd on an external dvd connected by firewire to my computer, but Premiere's capture did not get any signal from the dvd...

Panasonic NV GS280 by Terence Watts
Anybody here familiar with the Panasonic NV GS280? I'm wondering whether to replace my NV GS5, which is only about 3 years old or so but has only a single CCD system. I suppose I'm asking: "Will I notice the difference?" Or should I hang on 'til HD becomes more affordable...? Any thoughts will be appreciated! Terence

Adding text to video by Wallace
I would like to add text to a video. This could be a few frames with only text on or text added to the video as it runs. I don't want to spend any money so I was wondering if any shareware exists.

Rotating AVI digital through 90 degrees by Wallace
I want to rotate a short video clip through 90 degrees clockwise. Are there any freeware programs that do this. I'm not interested in paying for anything- it's a one-off.

Welcome to Vista! :) by Just D
http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.txt Guys, it seems that nobody will be able to make his own movies with Vista because M$ thinks that all devices and drivers should be certified to allow them working. Also take a look at this one: "Decreased Playback Quality --------------------------

Digital recording by ivan
I wonder if anyone can help me with some queries I have regarding my attempts at digital recording. Anything I record and burn as a DVD in Nero 6 invariably winds up with the sound perceptibly out of sync with the vision, (despite not a single frame being dropped in an hour's worth of recording) although anything recorded as a VCD and SVCD appears to be OK. If I then convert 'any' saved files...

Capture video from my computer by richard.lister@calderdale.gov.uk
Hi, if I connect my Sony HC42e to my laptop with a firewire cable I get the Sony DV Camcorder icon. If I double click that I see a window where I can capture single images from whatever the camcorder sees. Shouldn't I be able to control the tape and capture bits or is that only in movie maker - I'm sure I could do it at some time. thanks, Richard

DVD Architect Preview grainy and jerky by Micheal Ra
I've recently downloaded trial versions of Sony's Vegas Studio (Version 6.0b, build 126) and DVD Architect Studio (version 3.0b build 93) for evaluation. I've found that they more than meet my needs for editing and DVD menu creation. However, Architect Studio doesn't allow you to burn a DvD; you're only allowed to preview the project in a DVD player simulation within the application. I found...

miniDV or HardDisk by Brink
We are looking for a new camcorder to replace our old Panasonic VHS-C. But we find it difficult to decide if we schould choose a mini DV og HardDisk type. Is there a big difference in the quality ? , and is the 3CCD camcorders that much better ? Another issue is the zoom, how much is suitable, because the cheaper camcorders has a lot more. Does anybody have any experience with som of theese...

CCTV by Jewlssss
My apologies if this isn't really the group to post this but can anyone advise what I need to record from a simple CCTV camera? I already edit tapes from my camcorder via firewire but do I need something else (apart from software) to set up a simple CCTV at the front and back of the house?

Why it's hard to survive in this business these days... by Andy
We take on a new client, a keen youngish music video producer, introduced to me by a director friend, he has mega flashy website, talks the talk, and comes across as a real professional. So we hire him a complete shooting kit , camera, grip equipment, lights etc He collects the gear, drops it off again.. Ok They've scratched an ND grad, and a couple of gells are stuck together after being put...
