A portable media player with integrated camcorder from Archos by Barbara
Archos, a leading maker of portable media players, has released their 404 player with an integrated camcorder. The seven ounce player has a 30GB hard drive and a 3.5-inch LCD screen that can display 320 by 240 pixels. A lithium-ion battery powers the player and Archos claims it can give up to eight hours of music playback or two and a half hours of video...

force windows to use firewire device for sound input? by tg
I have a Canopus Twinpact DV capture device and also a Pinnacle 500-USB video capture device. They both work fine for capturing video with audio but is there a way to make windows use these devices as audio recording devices only? ie: without the video? (kind of like using it as a sound card). Neither device appears as a sound device in Control Panel/Sounds and Audio devices but maybe there's a...

software suggestions? by Jewel
I've just bought the Sony DCR SR80 hard drive camcorder to replace my Panasonic NVGS3. It records video in short burst of MPG's and my edition of Studio 10 won't accept the format. Not keen on he editing suite that comes with it (Pixela Image Maker) and for some reason it crashed Windows Movie Maker so can anyone suggest any easy to use editing SW just to add a few titles, trim the clips up...

Forum for Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 by Wallace
Does anyone know if there's a good discussion group for Magix Movie Edit Pro 11. It's just that it's a fairly complex piece of software and the instructions are fairly useless. Thanks, Wallace

video editing for parallel screen projection ("video wall" with twoscreens side by side) by Alain Kessi
hi there! i'm trying to edit a film in the format 1440x576 (double-width with respect to dv pal), with the aim of exporting it afterwards to two different dvd's (left half, right half). the idea is to be able to edit the two videos together, to adjust timings, etc., between the two halves, but then use two dvd players and two video projectors to screen the two halves separately...

live web stream by Adam
Hi there, I've got birds nest at the roof of my house. I would like to install a web cam before birds come back and transmit live picture though my website. What prerequisites do I need it order to succeed and how much roughly it would cost me? I assume I would need a proper web cam, which could stand bad weather and temperature changes. The place where birds have a nest is quite dark as well,...

wmv to avi/mpg by Grumps
Hi All Before I download loads of free trial software, can anyone suggest a good tool for doing the above? I'm using Premiere Elements at the moment (it works, but it's slow). This isn't a DRM question BTW. Thanks.

Condensation light error - Panasonic NV DS60 by Nielz
When I turn on my camcorder I immediately get a warning about condensation. The camera then turns itself of after approx. 15 sec. It is not because I have been diving with it or I have taking in it out into the rain. I really don't know why this error suddenly appears. The warranty has unfortunately expired, so no help there.

Help! White text turns pink on printed sleeves by mst3kpimp@aol.com
Does this happen to you guys? Once printed the white text on my DVD sleeves gradually turns pink after a week or two around the edges or completly depending on the darkness of the background. However the white parts in the various photos seem unaffected. I've tried HP and lexmark photo paper with similar results. I'm using an HP printer with vivera inks. Is this a photo paper thing? Is there an...

Playing mpg on PC. by Grumps
Windows XP SP2. A recent update to Media Player, and it's now version 11 (even though it said it was updating version 10). Anyway, everytime I try to play an mpg I get a moving banner at the bottom of the media player screen saying "Evaluation period expired for Elecard MPEG decoder" or other such phrase. I have absolutely no idea what this is. I have never installed such a decoder. And the...

Handycam Aspect Ratio Selector by melianbriggs
Hello Everyone, My question to the group is again around aspect ratios. I got some good info last time around, albeit a bit technical at times - be gentle! It seems that the DCRHC35E being used (in conjunction with adobe premier elements 3.0) has a selector that gives me the option to use 16.9 or 4.3 and my tv is a widescreen. I also believe that most future tv screens will be 16.9 so I want to...

samsung vp-d101 blurry screen by trigaahippie@gmail.com
My Samsung vp-d101 digital camcorder works perfectly well in night vision mode, but when i switch it to ordinary mode i get a blurry screen. I can see some motion of activity in the display, but can't see the actual picture. I have tried everything in the user manual and have tried manually focusing it but the blur remains whatever i try. I thought there might have been condensation around the...

which aspect ratio? by melianbriggs
Hello everyone! The last contact I had with this group regarded asking for some guidance around dedicated home video software. I have now taken the plunge and opted for Adobe Premier Elements 3.0. I have installed this and launched for the first time. On the settings tab on the first window that opens, I am asked to select between two ratios (one being widescren). I think the other is 4.3...

Newbie question about DV by Kannon Fodder
OK so I have decided that I want to buy a Hard Drive camcorder as I like the convenience of not having to mess around with analogue tapes. After reading various reviews and info, most seem to agree that although the current crop of entry level Hard Drive cameras give good image quality, they don't quite match up to MiniDV tape equivalents (though I am happy to be proved wrong!). This got me...
