| | Memory stick problem by
Tor Ole Kjellevand
I`ve just bought a new Sony PC 120 videokamera. Everything works fine as
long as I use the DV storing. But when I try to store to the memory stick
( photos or movie) the pictures are wrong. Very strong colors and artifacts.
I have tried different memorysticks. Suggestions before I send the camcorder
back ?

| | Is it time for a uk.rec.video.digital,pro group ? by
Jerry.
ISTM that there are two apposing forces in this group, those who are happy
to live with 'domestic' standards and those who either wish to or do work to
a pro standard.
Is it time to try and get a group for those latter people ?

I presently only have a CD writer with my CD Rom drive, but I'll be
shortly
getting a DVD writer, I'm however looking for advice to do with the two
devices.
I have stacks of family videos that I would love to transfer to CD format.
How do I go about it?...

| | Question about viewing multiple channels from one dish by
Abbie
I have a question regarding viewing more than one channels off
one dish/lnb. First I'll mention that I am using a dish which has
a universal lnb and is pointed at hotbird. This lnb is connected
to a digital free to air receiver, and through its loopthrough to
my wintv nova-s pci card. The situation is this: If I watch any
channel with a horizontal polarization on the receiver, then I can
watch on...

| | camcorders grainy image, or just MV600i? by
foldface@yahoo.co.uk
Hi
I've got the canon MV600i. I was surprised by how grainy the picture was,
I was expecting a better quality contrast that I'm getting. Is there any
way of playing with the camera to improve this? Can't help but think
that by using the default settings I'm doing something wrong

| | Pinnacle Studio 8 - No DVD/CD by
Brownie
I am pretty fed up with Pinnacle software. I used to have Studio 7 and
found that needed endless patches before it could render a complete file for
me. I am now using Studio 8 and have added all the latest patches. I have
come to the point where I'd like to burn a DVD only to find a reinstalled
version of the software will not see either my CD writer or more importantly
my Pioneer DVD writer. ...

| | Studio export by
David
Although Studio 8 can be unpredictable sometimes, I find it great for
assembly and initial ideas. However, my question is - has anyone had any
experience of creating majority of project and outputting to Vegas 4 to
complete more sophisticated elements before project completion (mpeg2) e.g.
more video layers, etc. What would be the best format of output from Studio
to Vegas?
I have not tried...

| | edited video poor quality by
steve
Hello.
I've just tried editing video on my pc but the results were unexpectedly
poor.
I've got a JVC mini DV camera and I'm using Windows Movie Maker 2 to edit.
I've got a Texas Instruments Firewire card.
Now I can download the video into WMM2 as Digital device format (DV-AVI) so
there is no compression and the file can be edited then returned to the
camera with no loss of quality (or so I...

| | Recommendations for splitting a wmv file? by
The Old Man
Hi,
Having managed to capture a WMV file which is 1.2GB in size I want to split
it into 2 files as the capture software Show Shifter failed to do it. I have
tried downloading AVI/MPEG/ASF/WMV Splitter but this doesn't seem to work as
nothing ever happens once I click on the split button.
I have also tried Easy Video Splitter v2.1 but this bombs out giving me an
error message about MSVCRTD.dll...

| | Jerky DVD playback on fast panning by
pete
I wonder if someone could help me. I'm trying in vain to produce a video of
a recent holiday using various bits of software.
Capture and editing is done in Studio 8 via Firewire from MiniDV camcorder
at full quality. Since Studio seems to have problems with A/V sync when
rendering to MPEG (at least that's my experience) I am trying to use
TMPEGEnc to do the encoding from DV-AVI to MPEG-2,...

| | Sources for flourescent video lighting? by
Hobbit
Hi,
Can anyone please point me towards a source for flourescent lighting with
electronic ballast, fitted with tubes suitable for video filming please?
I can find many sources for 'traditional' video lighting rigs but as I wish
to film in a small area I need flourescents to keep the heat down.
Thanks.

| | Video Capture Software by
Mike Trozzo
Hello,
I'm an American who has moved to Europe, and am familiar with the PAL/NTSC
situation. Since I can't watch my tapes here, I decided to digitize them
instead. I brought my American VCR with me, and I got my hands on a
Melco/Buffalo MEG-VC2 video capture board and installed it and the drivers.
(I had to bring my old P150 W98SE box out of the basement since there are no
drivers for XP...
