| | Editing SD .AVI by
Terence Watts
Hi All,
I'm REALLY hoping somebody can help out here! I've got several short
clips of around 20 seconds each recorded onto an SD card via a Pentax
S6 digital camera running in movie mode - it records .AVI files.
They playback as well as can be expected in the camera but I can't
find any way of storing them and playing them on my PC - has anybody
got any ideas?

Hi
Can anyone recommend some software for Windows XP/Vista that will help
me to transfer 1 hour MiniDV tapes onto DVD? Either free/low cost is
fine. What DVD capacity is recommended?
thanks

| | Stopping jittery playback of DVD by
Wallace
I have a fairly old XP laptop computer running at about 1.5 GHz. Some DVDs
play fine but some recent ones have been very juddery as if the processor
hasn't sufficient power to decode the video so breaks up the picture. The
sound quality is fine.
Can I buy a PCMCIA card to speed things along? I can't find any display
adaptor in System - Hardware under Sound, video and games controllers

| | Reducing file size for recorded video by
Wallace
I have a programme that I've recorded from the TV. The file size if 5.6 GB,
so it's too big to go on my standard single layered DVD discs.
So I was wondering if there are any freeware programs that would allow me to
cut down the size to something that I can record to DVD.
Thanks (in advance)

| | GSE MPE-2000 Pro user manual by
Noël Danjou
Hello,
I just got a second-hand GSE MPE-2000 Pro video editor but both the program
and the user manual are in German. Since GSE is out of business now I was
wondering if you'd have an idea about how I could get an English (or French)
version of the user manual either in electronic form/download or simply a
photocopy?
Thank you.

| | Adobe Soundbooth Beta by
Margaret Willmer
If anyone is interested you can download a beta version of Soundbooth
from here http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/soundbooth/
I've been trying it a bit. It will open an .avi to edit the audio track.

| | Backing up Hard Drive in DVD player by
Martin S Taylor
Hi:
The hard drive in my Panasonic DVD player is showing signs that it may be on
the way out (it's started 'Self-testing' for up to five minutes before it
will let me view it).
Were this the hard drive on my computer, I'd be backing it up like crazy;
what's the recommended action with the hard drive in a DVD player? I don't
fancy putting 80 hours of movies onto DVDs.

| | Alternate Codecs by
:Jerry:
Does, or has anyone, any practical experiance of using the 'Huffyuv'
(v2.1.1) codec. Are the authors claims correct, any issuse etc., I
understand that there was an issue with uninstalling it pre v2.1.1
version but that has been sorted?

| | Relocating anchor points in Premiere Pro by
Luis Ortega
I have been trying to find out if there is a way to move the anchor point of
a clip so that when I add a rotation it will rotate aroung where the anchor
point is placed.
In the effects window, I can use the mouse to grab a numerical value for the
anchor point and drag it left or right to increase or decrease the value and
the anchor point slowly becomes aligned where I want it in the preview...

| | Head cleaning by
Margaret Willmer
I have hand a wander around the internet to find some information on
Camcorder head cleaning.
We have 3 Canon camcorders of varying ages and none has ever been
cleaned. Now the oldest (MV30), which I mainly use for capture, has
decided that it doesn't want to transfer cleanly. I realised that it
must be the heads having transferred the tape to the PC on the newest
camera and it was...

I am hoping someone can help me please. I have been trying for
weeks to 'burn' a DVD. I have managed to capture the video from the
camera. At the time all I had available was Windows Movie Maker but
I realised I was going to need something different for burning to a
DVD that would play on a domestic DVD player. I have been trialling
Ulead Movie Factory 5 which seemed quite easy to...

| | DVD recorder questions by
ah
I am going to buy:
1. a 15" BRAVIA 4:3 LCD TV with Integrated Digital Tuner + PC Input
2. a 160 GB HDD DVD Recorder with integrated digital TV tuner.
1. If I connect my VHS system to the DVD recorder, will I be able to convert
directly my VHS tapes into digital or will I need a special software?
2. Is the DVD recorder strong enough to be placed directly under the (small)
LCD TV?
