Looking 4 DV camera for around $1000?!? by david
Looking for the best DV for the money. I have been reading alot about Canon's lately how good they are in the $3000 range, but the low range has alot of motor noise and low-light is bad. So I can spend about $1000-1200.00 buck and want a good camera for shooting short films etc. Any good feedback from consumers that are satisfied? Thanks

Just been looking at the Sony TRV33, which has widescreen functionality. Are there many other digital camcorders out there with this feature. Do other makes such as JVC/Panasonic have such a feature? Lee

JVC - GRDV700 - Newbie question........... by dave
Okay after reading good things about this camcorder I am going to order one tomorrow.............. But first a couple of really newbie questions................. It takes mini dv tapes and also multimedia cards - okay so i am going to be doing say 8 (maximum but could be 1 or 2) 10 minute recordings a day. Do I use cards or tape - can i transfer to pc from either?

For Sony Camcorder Users (and maybe others) - Please Read This by Tony Morgan
After struggling for eighteen months I've finally found a solution to a very annoying problem with my Sony camcorder. Whenever I've been doing video editing, or when changing tapes with an external mic connected when shooting, the plug/socket cover has got in the way making things very difficult - especially when changing tapes. The solution was very simple (and too, too obvious). Just cut...

First Camcorder... by Nick H (UK)
and more or less decided on the Canon MVX150i. Second choice would be the JVC DV3000. Simple reason for selecting these two is the 3.5" LCD screen, the Sony TRV80 well exceeds budget. Any comments or contrary advice? -- Nick H (UK)

jerky output but why? by chris
Hi, I have been filming with my canon 530i for a few years now but have come across a problem that i cant quite put my finger on. I film with my 530i and edit it with premier and this gives me perfectly captured films with no dropped fames. Just recently i sometimes notice a choppy jerky effect especialy when the subject is moving only once they have been burnt to dvd .Sometimes it does it and...

JVC GR-D20EK Sound problems by Lost Soul
I bought this camera a couple of months ago for my Wife, she's got a couple of hours of footage now so it's my job to transfer to VHS and VCD for the distant relatives. I've reviewed the footage and there is a constant high pitched drone throughout the entire recording (image quality is fine by the way). I know exactly what the noise is, it's the microphone picking up the noise from the motor...

DV in cold weather conditions not usable? by andreas
From my DV manual: working temperature 0 - 40 C, battery 0 - 40 C, memorycard 0 - 40 C. What is the manufacturer thinking of when setting these limits? Use outdoors in cold weather will the DV take damage, tape damage? will the properties of the memorycard change with low temperatures? I spent last weekend in a snowy mountainarea with -15 C daytime, could I have used it without fear from ruining...

Colour Night View - Panasonic Gs50b by jhayc
I recently bought a Panasonic GS50B and am really pleased with it. Within an hour of taking it out of the box I was shooting holiday movies with it. The sound and image quality is amazing considering I haven't got a clue about cameras. The Camera has a button on it: "Colour Night view" for low light conditions. When I press this, the film goes really jerky and doesn't perform in real time. It...

Advice on buying a new camcorder by Lee B
Hi Guys/Gals, Need some advice on buying my first digital camcorder. Want something compact and would ideally like to but something which has good still photo capabilities. I'd only like to spend around £500-£600. I have seen a JVC GR-DV700 which has the ability to take still photos at a resolution of 1600x1200. It also seems to have good zoom functions plus DV in/out which I need as I'd like to...

vegas 4 problem by bill
Hi all, I'm a bit of a newbie at all this, but have got myself a copy of the above program. Trouble is, I capture from my DV cam using vegas 4 and play the resulting AVI in windows media player, it 'stutters'. What I mean by that is it plays for about a second, seems to pause, plays for a second, pauses,.....and so on. During this pausing I have no control over the mouse.
