Sony DCR-TRV & Xray machine. by Yorkie_john
Hi, I have read in various places that security x-tray machines SHOULD NOT affect either digital camcoders or video tape. However on a recent trip to Paris, my son's Sony DCR-TRV140 (and tapes) was passed through the security x-ray machine at the Louvre museum. The effect of this was that all previously recorded tapes were (temporarily - 2 days) corrupted, and it was not possible, again for...

Hi, im after a mini DV cam with video or DV input. My main requirement for the camera is to record when im mobile, eg cycling snowboarding etc. I need the ability to plug in an external camera(own psu) and ext microphone. Can this be done with a DV input on a camera or is video input different? Can anyone recommend a camera? I was looking at the JVC GR D20 but only has DV out, had a readup...

Still wrong hues ? by Mel
I have shot my first movie using a Sony DCR-TRV24SE, imported (via Firewire) and edited it using MS Movie Maker 2. All the colours remained fine until I saved the final movie into WMV, the hue is then again completely wrong, using Windows Media Player if I turn the hue control to the far right or left the colours again look OK. Why should the colours be being reproduced incorrectly, I posted...

PowerDVD caps to bitmap by default; possible to cap to JPG? by fitwell
Someone somewhere wrote that this was possible but I haven't been able to locate that message again as I don't remember which group it was posted to. I hope this can be done. Everywhere I've looked I can't find mention of being able to cap to anything other than BMP. This is very bad, though, as the caps folder gets too big, too fast. Is this possible? And how would one do it? I can find...

copying dvd to vcd by dakeb
Is there any software that will copy a dvd disc to vcd quickly and simply? Like inserting the dvd disc in drive G, the cd-r disc in drive H, then pressing a button that says copy disc? So it does the conversion automatically? Without me having to select files, or needing a degree in video editing and it taking 15 hours?

He has the audio leads connected through the capture card (although he did try it through the sound card but that diddnt work either). I thought it might be a driver problem, any advice appreciated

Wrong hue's by Mel
Hope someone can help? as a newcomer to image editing I must be missing something here, but I will try and explain. When I grab images from my camcorder via USB the original format it saves them in is AVI, when I play these AVI's back the colours are correct. When however I compress them to MPEG (using Sony Image Editor) the colours are reproduced incorrectly. If I use Windows Media Player, by...

Cheap camcorder to film bands - TRV19E? by Richard Brooks
Hello - I'm looking for a camcorder to film live bands with. Main requirements: Cheap (in case something bad happens to it) Must give reasonable results in lower light levels DV In/Out (for PC editing of footage) Easy to use (good results with everything set to auto, point and shoot). I've seen a lot of comments about The Canon 600i being grainy in low light, which seems to count it out.

Sony TRV 240 poor picture by Jigsey
Hi I bought Sony DCR TRV 240 last summer, at first I was pleased with the quality of the indoor picture. But while filming indoors over Christmas (Family Reunion etc) I was shocked at the grainy picture. Outdoor shots were perfect, but I'm not pleased with the indoor footage at all. Could the problem be due to poor lighting in my house (and pub) and would a camera light fitting solve the...

The easiest way would be to record the VHS into...

DMA mode and Win XP by Dave R
I've just moved my Maxtor 120GB disc from my Win2000 machine into my new XP machine. However XP seems determined to put this drive into PIO Only mode. On Win2K it ran in DMA mode no problem. On my XP machine, the primary drive is running in DMA Mode 5 no problem, so the mobo and chipset support it ok, and I know the Maxtor drive supports it ok, as it's worked previously. Any thoughts from...

Preview on external monitor by Stuart McKears
I'm looking at ways to preview, from Vegas4, on an external monitor by using a DV-to-analog converter rather than using a camera. As I have two onboard firewire ports, I am considering using a Pinnacle Moviebox as the convertor. Any other suggestions, ideas would be most welcome. regards
