Sony VCT-1170RM Pro Video tripod by Luke
Hello: Has anyone in UK have a chance to try out this new Sony VCT-1170RM tripod yet? I like it light weight with the remote controller ready. I'm from USA and this tripod doesn't exist in USA yet. If I really want it, I'll have to order it from either UK or Singapore. It's a lot more expensive in UK though. I am thinking of ordering it from a place in Singapore for USD460.00 after...

zoom facility in any edit software? by Danny Lawrence
I've just taken digital video footage of a wedding service from a camcorder mounted on a tripod (I was a the father of the groom and obliged to stay in my appointed seat). The lack of variation in view makes it boring to watch. Do any of you know of any any editing software available that will allow me to do the equivalent of zoom in and out (and after zooming pan) to add interest to the shots? I...

Camera chewing tapes - yum yum by John Makin
Hi all I have been shooting and editing for a couple of years with my Canon MV4i. Recently the camera has caught a few tapes causing that bit of footage to become ruined when playing back tapes. This has not yet happened when recording. I immediately bought a head cleaner (20 quid !) and used it for the 10 seconds that the instruction manual indicated.

My main problem is finding information on this kit, every possible permutation of searching via google/ask/yahoo/av just hammers me...

Question for Peter H by John
Hello Peter, I have been doing video editing for 4 years now and am a Sony/Sonic Foundry Vegas user. I have been using Windows 98SE and am preparing to upgrade to Windows XP professional. I have been researching drivers for my Voodoo 5 5500 video card and cannot find a post anywhere from a fellow video editor to help me select one. I found this which you posted last February on this forum: "I...

Audio capture problem by briwy
I am trying to capture DV from my camera direct to a DVD using Nero Vision Express or U lead Movie Maker 2. Video is transferred OK but can,t get the audio across. I,ve tried altering various settings but some of them in nero are greyed out. If I capture to the hard drive first and then save to a DVD all seems OK. Any ideas please. Thanks Brian

Pinnacle, Ulead, Roxio Pro...... by Tumbleweed
Blimey, how to choose? I have picked up that Pinnacle may be flaky, but I assume it works ok with some combinations of h/w, where is a good place to look, is there a support forum or usenet group so I can see if people are having issues with similar h/w to mine? AFAICS there are a stack of 'budget' apps around £50 or less to pick between, otherwise its up to several hundred for the bigger...

quality, DVD vs. Digital-8 tape by Michiel Rapati-Kekkonen
Hi, I'm rather new in this field, so excuse me if I ask questions long answered. I now bought a DVD-burner, because I thought that the DVD quality would be equal to the original Digital-8 tapes. But I see that the images from the DVD are a touch less lively. That is a pity.

Sony DCRTRV14 - how to get clips from tape to PC! by Gav
hello, I am asking this on behalf of a friend who just bought the Sony DCRTRV14 MiniDV digital camcorder. He wants to know if you can transfer footage you have recorded on the tape to your PC via USB. It seems that you can do "live streaming" from the camera to the PC i.e. it kind of acts like a webcam but can you record some video onto tape then transfer this later to you PC via the USB...

My questions, for which I am seeking enlightment here, a - Rather smeary, washed sub titles in certain conditions, - Double letters/ghosting within the title - On a tv screen, the DC30 produces a horizontal bar, one looks concave, the next convex, then concave etc. which...
