Please help a newcomer with a bizzare video cd problem... by Chris Rogers
Hi, I have recently started dabbling with making video cds. I have not had a very good experience, but I've got a few to work, but am left with a weird problem. I am trying to make video cds to play in a personal-cd type player I have bought, that also plays video cds. It seems that if I use my VCD creation program (Honestech VCD Maker)

AVI DVD by Topper
Have been looking through a few tutorials for the above and being a relative noob was astonished by the amount of software and trouble needed just to do this. Can anyone recommend the best and simplest way to do so if there is one? I've got the dv editing software and the burning software sorted just this bit in the middle Ive no experience. I apologize for my naivety, I know most people are...

Newble help with Canopus ADVC 100 please by BIG D
I was wondering of someone could help me with a problem I'm having with the advc100. I wish to put a old NTSC video to my hard drive for later burning to DVD. I use a Panasonic NV-HS830 which plays NTSC on Pal Tv, I know there isn't a problem with this video recorder as I can easy watch my NTSC video on my tv. I am using Wincreator and have tried Power Producer. I have tried to adjust the dip...

Green screen advice please by Jake
Hi I want to make a silly little movie for my nephew and niece where I'm going to shrink them down to miniature size in their own house. I'll therefore need to create a small green screen sound stage. The budget for this is practically zero - as it's only a bit of fun for the kids - so should I expect reasonable results if I buy a roll of the purest green fabric I can find, or should I abandon...

Pros and cons of hyperthreading with Premiere by Jake
I've tried a Google Groups search but I haven't unearthed anything useful (maybe using the wrong search phrases...) Is there a significant (or any) performance gain using Premiere 6.5 on a PC with an Intel Pentium 4 with hyperthreading technology? Jake

microphones by Laurence Payne
Before Christmas we were talking about microphones. I've been playing with a Rode NT4. A pair of condenser capsules, permanently mounted as an X-Y pair. Street price around £240 inc VAT. This is a real workhorse! It works on 48v phantom power or an internal 9v battery. Two cables are provided, one with two XLR plugs for connection to professional equipment, one with 1/8inch stereo jack plug...

Best buy? by Evelyn
I'm considering buying a digital camcorder but I haven't much of a clue about the technology. Can these DV tapes be copied to DVD discs? Anybody recommend a reasonably priced camcorder? What are the most reliable brands - JVC or Sony or what? Many thanks Melanie

Canopus ADVC-100 by Dave R
Borrowed one of these over the weekend, and really struggled to get it to work. Running XP, the computer didn't recognise when the ADVC was turned on, nor would XP pick it up if I rebooted the PC and left the device on. I think I got it to do DV-A twice, but not in a repeatable manner. I couldn't get A-DV working at all. My mate said it's been kicking around his work for a while so...

Resolution and DVD quality by J. Richard
I have a Digital-8 camera. I would like to create DVD videos. The camera (sony trv250) doesn't have a very high resolution. When capturing, the AVI files seem to come automatically in 640 x 480. If I use a video editor and save them as 720 x 480 will they lose some quality or will they become stretched? I also don't understand how they come in at 640 x 480. The resolution described by the...

Sony VCT-1170RM Pro Video tripod by Luke
Hello: Has anyone in UK have a chance to try out this new Sony VCT-1170RM tripod yet? I like it light weight with the remote controller ready. I'm from USA and this tripod doesn't exist in USA yet. If I really want it, I'll have to order it from either UK or Singapore. It's a lot more expensive in UK though. I am thinking of ordering it from a place in Singapore for USD460.00 after...

zoom facility in any edit software? by Danny Lawrence
I've just taken digital video footage of a wedding service from a camcorder mounted on a tripod (I was a the father of the groom and obliged to stay in my appointed seat). The lack of variation in view makes it boring to watch. Do any of you know of any any editing software available that will allow me to do the equivalent of zoom in and out (and after zooming pan) to add interest to the shots? I...
