ABC VideoRoll still-to-video cross-fade problem by Seppo Sipilä
Hi! Anyone out there familiar with ABC VideoRoll 2.5 build 70? I have a problem: 1) I import a jpeg image into layer A, set its duration to 4 sec 2) I import a 15-sec mpeg video clip into layer A after the still image 3) I move the video clip to 2-sec overlap with the still image 4) I see a cross-fade transition symbol between the still and the clip, and its parameters are fine (0% to 100%,...

Studio DV Moviebox by Stuart Walker
Has anyone seen any units similar to this, at a more reasonable cost. As it is Pinnacle branded and comes with a full version of Studio 9 it costs a bit too much. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008UZMQ/ref=sr_aps_software_1_1/202-6725738-3839834 I have also seen a more basic unit in PC World (sorry for swearing) called Studio AV/DV Deluxe but again you are paying for...

Sony RM-VD1 remote control by Some
Hi All, Is there anyone in this forum who uses this remote control from Sony with a Sony camcorder? I would love to know if it can power up and power down the camcorder in "CAMERA" mode? I bought a KLR Lanc remote controller because they claimed it could do so. But unfortunately it could not power up my camcoreder after I powered it down (with the remote) everything else was working with...

Miro XL by Theodore Masterton
I have been climbing up the learning curse with my Pinnacle PCTV, learning the trade-offs between WMF, MPEG, DV, etc. Last night I finally noticed some alternative codecs in the PCTV listing for recording broadcasts -- I tried MIRO XL, and was amazed at the quality of the recording picture, and the fact that it did not introduce the PCI bandwide Lines, dropped frames, etc on my 1100 mhz Athlon. ...

Sound problem by Michael Smith
Hope someone can help. When I connect my Digital camcorder to my firewire port everything works fine EXCEPT the sound is very choppy, the video quality is fine and some parts of the video seem to have OK sound but the vast majority is choppy. If I listen to the video on the camcorder (or directly through my TV) then all the sound is OK. I did think the DV tape may be faulty as we have had them...

SP vs LP by Jake
Need a bit of advice here. I've been told that picture quality in a DV camera is identical whether you use SP or LP mode, and that in LP mode it's the additional capacity that would otherwise be used for a second stereo soundtrack that's used to fit the additional data on the tape. So if I never intend to use the second stereo soundtrack on the DV tape, and I set my camera to record in LP mode...

DV Cam recommendations £900 - 1200? by Paul Marshall
Hey everyone, I'd appreciate a little direction. My camera bit the dust following a fall and my insurance has recently furnished me with a lovely £900 cheque so I'm shopping around for a DV cam replacement. I would have to make up any cash difference myself obviously. I'd prefer to buy new but a good quality second hand system from a trusted seller may be acceptable. I have been to Tony...

Superimposing DV/D8 date and time information on the picture by Jukka Aho
This has been discussed here before (on a theoretical level), but it seems now that someone has actually written a tool that does the job (i.e. extracts the date and time information from the DV data stream and overlays it on the top of the picture): http://www.geocities.com/dts8888/ -- znark

JVC GR-D50EK Batteries. by Dave Brown
OK Guys, You've all been brilliant so far with your advice so here I go again. I've just purchased a GR_D50EK Camcorder and am soon realising that the supplied battery (BN-408U) probably won't have enough recording time in it (1h 10m according to JVC) when I'm using it outdoors. My question can anybody recommend a good & obviously cheap supplier of either the BN-416U or BN-428U.

Newcomer in the US by Theodore Masterton
This looks like a fine newsgroup, I intend to participate -- but eventually I am going to need North American solutions to service and purchasing choices -- is there a North American equivalent? I have noticed since I became interested in digital video, that a LOT of the interesting stuff is happening on the right side of the Atlantic, by the way.

Credit were it's due!!!! by Dave Brown
I recently (after seeking advice on here) bought a JVC GR-D50EK Digital Camcorder from AJ Electronics in London. Unfortunately after a couple of days the Camcorder refused to playback for some reason. I contacted AJ Electronics who told me to return it for exchange. Never having bought anything like this on the Internet before I was somewhat sceptical of how long this would take. However I...

Image stabilisation after the event? by SR
Hi, I have some old video recorded in the NgoroNgoro crater which makes me seasick every time I watch it as the camera I had at the time didn't have image stabilisation. Is there any way of eliminating this camera shake - would projecting it on a screen (have dlp projector) and rerecording it with my more recent camera which has digital stabilisation work?
