nuttytart in cyberspace
hi,
installed pinnacle 8 last night with no problems................or so i
thought.
captured about 10 mins of video just to try it which i then deleted.
checked hard drive properties afterwards and found that instead of the usual

hard drive is 40GB capacity so theres not a lot of room left.

| | Sound problem by
Michael Smith
Hope someone can help.
When I connect my Digital camcorder to my firewire port everything works
fine EXCEPT the sound is very choppy, the video quality is fine and some
parts of the video seem to have OK sound but the vast majority is choppy.
If I listen to the video on the camcorder (or directly through my TV) then
all the sound is OK.
I did think the DV tape may be faulty as we have had them...

| | SP vs LP by
Jake
Need a bit of advice here.
I've been told that picture quality in a DV camera is identical whether you
use SP or LP mode, and that in LP mode it's the additional capacity that
would otherwise be used for a second stereo soundtrack that's used to fit
the additional data on the tape.
So if I never intend to use the second stereo soundtrack on the DV tape, and
I set my camera to record in LP mode...

| | DV Cam recommendations £900 - 1200? by
Paul Marshall
Hey everyone,
I'd appreciate a little direction.
My camera bit the dust following a fall and my insurance has recently
furnished me with a lovely £900 cheque so I'm shopping around for a DV cam
replacement. I would have to make up any cash difference myself obviously.
I'd prefer to buy new but a good quality second hand system from a trusted
seller may be acceptable. I have been to Tony...

| | Superimposing DV/D8 date and time information on the picture by
Jukka Aho
This has been discussed here before (on a theoretical level), but it
seems now that someone has actually written a tool that does the job
(i.e. extracts the date and time information from the DV data stream
and overlays it on the top of the picture):

| | Cheap camcorder with analogue in? by
Julie
Hi,
I've got an old Canon MV200 which I'm generally happy with, but I have
a lot of old home movies on VHS that I'd like to edit and put on DVD.
So I'm thinking of buying a new camcorder with an analogue input so I
can copy the films on to DV tape and then connect it to my Mac.
I don't want to spend a great deal of money, but would like one a
little smaller than my MV200 with similar features.

| | Nero burnig problem by
briwy
I am trying to use Nero Vision Express to burn directly to DVD from my
camcorder.
Camera is recognised OK together with the DVD recorder. tapes will preview
OK but as sson as I click on the Record button which is supposed to capture
and record the program closes down.
I can capture files OK using the same program and then burn to DVD with no
problem.
Any ideas anyone please.
Thanks

| | JVC GR-D50EK Batteries. by
Dave Brown
OK Guys,
You've all been brilliant so far with your advice so here I go again.
I've just purchased a GR_D50EK Camcorder and am soon realising that the
supplied battery (BN-408U) probably won't have enough recording time in it (1h
10m according to JVC) when I'm using it outdoors.
My question can anybody recommend a good & obviously cheap supplier of either
the BN-416U or BN-428U.

This looks like a fine newsgroup, I intend to participate -- but
eventually I am going to need North American solutions to service and
purchasing choices -- is there a North American equivalent?
I have noticed since I became interested in digital video, that a LOT of
the interesting stuff is happening on the right side of the Atlantic, by the
way.

I recently (after seeking advice on here) bought a JVC GR-D50EK Digital
Camcorder from AJ Electronics in London.
Unfortunately after a couple of days the Camcorder refused to playback for some
reason. I contacted AJ Electronics who told me to return it for exchange.
Never having bought anything like this on the Internet before I was somewhat
sceptical of how long this would take.
However I...

| | Image stabilisation after the event? by
SR
Hi,
I have some old video recorded in the NgoroNgoro crater which makes me
seasick every time I watch it as the camera I had at the time didn't have
image stabilisation.
Is there any way of eliminating this camera shake - would projecting it on a
screen (have dlp projector) and rerecording it with my more recent camera
which has digital stabilisation work?

| | Newbie to digital camcorders - capturing via analogue in? by
Andrew Pick
I recently bought a Panasonic GS50b - the main reason for this particular
model was because it had the analogue in. I have a lot of old VHS-C tapes
created with my other ten year old Panasonic camcorder.
I now want to transfer these digitally to a PC and get them out to DVD. My
PC has built-in firewire off the motherboard and I have a Pioneer 105 DVD
recorder.
I've bought a firewire cable and...

Lou
I hate to be dumb and I may be asking this to the wrong group, but I don't
know where to ask it. Advise me of a group if I am asking the wrong one.
I have an older Sony Digital 8 camcorder that is supposed to hook up to the
computer through i.link which I thought was a IEEE 1394 port. I have a two
year old Gateway computer with a 1394 port and I can't get the computer to
recognize that there...
