Sonic MyDVD crashes on burning by Jake
I have Sonic MyDVD 5.0 Deluxe edition and I'm having a few problems with the burn process. In short, when I click on the Burn button, it checks the media in the DVD drive, loads the media, then generates an error message and closes. The error is something like: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error Application terminated abnormally

Voice-Over problem in Liquid Edition by Sir Awl
Hi folks, Just looking for a little advice here, and hope someone can help. When I try to add voice-overs in Pinnacles LE, irrespective of the microphone used, the resultant sound file is always marred by what is almost certainly the whine of the several fans built into the base unit. If I capture sound via the firewire port or from the Cd/dvd drive there is no background noise.

Vcd, Svcd, Dvd??? by AstraMan
Got set up with new laptop, Pinnacle moviebox usb and pinnacle studio. Started downloading footage from my camcorder on sunday and thought I'd go for dvd quality, software tells me I need 10gb to save 3hr tape to HD. Seems a lot considering dvd's are only 4.7gb??? Is there much loss in quality if I drop to svcd or vcd?

still trying to convert avi to mpeg1 by dakeb
Not having much success with this. Been tring to convert a 800 MB movie to mpeg1 to burn to vcd. Using TMPGenc, but it wants to take 20 hours to do the conversion. Got 16 hours through it last night then the power tripped and I lost the conversion. I don't want to start again, it ties my pc up for too long. I used the same codec to convert two 800 MB mpeg2's to mpeg 1 for the same reason, these...

Follow up to computer editing question by Trev Worsey
Well, following my initial query below, My firewire PCMIA card arrived and I duly atttached it to the VX2000, and using Premiere 6.5, lo and behold it all seemed to work ok in terms of communication... Now here is my next question, when I went to capture the video it was dropping about 5 frames per hundred. Now this is on a pretty crappy set up (non defragged hard drive, lots of resourses being...

Help Computer locks up when DV camera attached by keith
Hi, I hope someone here can help me. I have a JVC GR-DVL157 and when I start the computer, the computer hangs up on the windows startup screen. This happens about 98% of the time. I follow the instructions (camera on first then start computer). If I turn the computer on and then turn the camera on once it's fully booted the system just freezes. If the computer fully starts with the camera...

How does 80mm DVD rate compared to miniDV tape? by theman@themiddle.com
I am going through the tortous process of buying a digital camcorder. and there is a general attempt to get me to up the ante and buy a camera with an 8cm DVD as the recording mediu,, rather than the usual tape. Does anybody have any views on the relative merits of these media?

Firewire by Linedancer
My husband has recently bought a Panasonic NV DS65 I installed the USB driver from the software as instucted, but it wouldn't work when connected through the lead provided. I understand that we need a firewire card installing in the PC in order to play the video and burn to CD/DVD. There appear to be firewire cards from about £12 upwards if we buy online, the company who built the PC quoted...

Can NTSC Camcorder be viewed through a multi-system VCR on a PAL TV? by amer
Hi all. The Sony digital camcorder I am planning to buy (DCR IP1) is NTSC USA Model. My Sony VCR says it is multisystem (PAL/MESECAM/NTSC 3.58/4.43 and NTSC Playback on PAL TV). All TV's here are PAL/MESECAM only. I want to ask that can I view a normal picture from this camcorder on my TV if I connect it thru my VCR?

General Camcorder Viewfinder Question by 01
To re-phrase this question from my previous post to be less specific: I have a Video8 camcorder for which I don't have a cassette. I don't want to buy any before I know that the thing *may* at least be working OK. The model is a Sony F380E although I suspect it is not relevant as I'm sure analogue camcorders all operate via the same principal. All the functions that don't involve recording...

Question from a beginner by John
Hi there, I am soon going to get a Panasonice NV-DS60, which I believe comes with a DV-out function. However I am completely new to camcorders, let alone digital camcorders, and I'd like to know how exactly can you convert the Mini-DV tape into a standard VHS video? Some people have mentioned S-video and analogue, but this means nothing to me. If somebody more knowledgable could explain to me...
