Dubbing DV time code to analogue by Derry Argue
Not sure if this is the right group but here goes! I acquire footage with a DSR PD150 on DVCAM, dump this to BVU (that is hi-band umatic sp for the youngsters here) and then edit the umatic tapes on an elderly BVU900 suite. The BVU edited master is sent off to the duplicators. It works! And I find BVU is quite adequate for duplicating VHS cassettes for sell through. My problem is that the...

Technicians: what is it? by Sosumi
http://members.home.nl/mayak.k/lampje.jpg My DV camcorder doesn't 'see' the tapes. (Panasonic DS 60) Someone suggested the heads might be dirty, but the tape doesn't even come out of the cassette, so it doesn't even touch the tape in camera mode. It just beeps three times and shows a symbol of no tape or tape set to safe. Beside it shows a good picture when in vcr mode. The picture above shows...

Hi8 v Difital by SDR
I am planning to buy a new Digital camcorder. I currently have a Sony Hi8. I was told by Jessops that there is not likely to be a substantial difference in quality except I get the convenience of firewire, USB etc. Is it worth spending on the Digital or wait for newer technology for a year or so?

Multi Image Matte with Premiere by stewart menday
Hi all I am trying to compose a scene that is made up of 3 other scene, a 1/3 of the screen for each. I have one scene on video 1, another on 2 and 3. The ones on 2 and 3 have an Image Matte that only lets the image through on the left and right thirds respectively. The problem is that when it is rendered the images are merging through each other on the first third of the screen, the rest...

Studio 9 by Dave Hall
I currently use the Studio 8.12 beta and it's the most stable, yet. I have been offered Studio 9 upgrade by Pinnacle for about 35 quid. I am holding fire until I hear some feedback. Has anyone tried it or am I to be the guinea pig? -- Dave Hall, Llangwm, Pembrokeshire. Web:- www.daviv.com Videos of badgers and foxes on our patio and birds inside a nestbox.

What camera by Dave R
Something on topic for us. My Sony DCR-PC9 has a fault, and I may or may not be getting it repaired, depending on a number of variables. So I pondered about what I could replace it with, and tried to have a look at the market. It's amazing the number of sites that list out of production models and the like. I want:-

MASTERING Liquid Edition by Myron Achtman
We've just upgraded our Liquid Edition tutorials. It's now a 2 DVD set and you'll receive all the media clips (video, music, graphics) that we used throughout the lessons. This way you can practice on your own system using the same files we used to create the tutorials. We are not going to increase the price of the program. It's still $99.95 and we've just revamped our Web page to describe...

Sony DCR-TRV950 & Panasonic NV-MX500 Question ? by zzzzz
Has anyone here got the Sony DCR-TRV950 ? if so can you tell me if it has got the *colour slow shutter* function ?, *similar I presume to the Panasonics colour night view* on the Panasonic NV-MX500 (PV-DV953 in the USA). Quite a few websites say the Sony DCR-TRV950 has colour slow shutter, but after downloading the manual for it I can find no mention of it listed !.

Combing on the edges of fast moving Analoge footage recorded to DV - WHY?? by Trev Worsey
Here is the question, I have taken old surf footage from a high 8 and an analogue 8 camera and recorded it to DV on my sony vx2000 (for some reason the camera would not do a pass through conversion even with AV-DV out on). I then fired it all into the computer and used Vegas 4 to construct the final edit. It all looks fine under the preview window. Now here is the problem, when I print to...

Help! Panasonic doesn't recognize DV cassette by Sosumi
My Panasonic DS60 is only a few months old and I filmed about 15 hours. Now it doesn't recognize the cassettes anymore in the camera position. It shows a 'cassette with a stripe thru it' symbol and beeps 3 times: 2 short beeps at a time. Also it doesn't 'see' where the timecode is. In vcr mode however, it just plays the cassettes without any problem. Does anybody have an idea what this could...
