| | newbie question, please help by
Baba
Hi yall.
The problem is the movie in PAL-DV quality (the default WMM2 setting) takes
13Gb for 1 hour. I need to code it too take a third of that size to fit on
DVD.
Which software can do that? If I take the variable bit-rate coding that WMM2
offers the picture is way too choppy and the file size is drastically lower.
I guess there has to be some middle ground.

Hi all, i'm going on holiday to amercica soon - was wondering what the best
way is to charge my camera when i'm over there. I've got a Sony TRV-60
.....and its come with a "AC POWER ADAPTOR" which says "AC IN ~ 100 - 240V
50/60 Hz" So i'm guessing it will be ok to get a UK - US mains adapter, and
plug it straight into this thing right?? Want to make sure before i go

Really? Ever managed to buy a disk pre-fomatted in NTFS?
Again you seem blistfully unaware that cloning software is capable of
partioning, indeed thats' what it's creating when it does a restore!
Many use cloning software to transfer to a new virgin hardisk and don't call
up any additional software to do it.
It would appear you are not keeping up with the latest software tehcnology!

| | New camcorder suggestions by
Guilbert
I have been asked by a relative to suggest a camcorder for them
to buy, MiniDV at around £400 to £500.
They are looking for something simple to use, and it will be for the
usual family videos, so no need for anything too high tech.
They will want to copy it to VHS tape, and it may be that in the
future they will download to PC and put on to DVD.
Any suggestions, and any good deals on at the...

j'arrow@home.net
I'm knocking together a short Matrix style dvd of my kids (7&4) for
their school, I was wondering if anyone knows of a royalty free web
resource for video effects (explosions - gun flare etc...) that I
could use as effects in the movie ?
Cheers

| | Copying from Camera to DVD? by
Fadel Ibrahim
How can I copy a film in my digital camcorder to a DVD? Do I have to go
through transferring the film to the computer, use Adobe Premiere (or
Pinnacle) and then export the film to the DVD burner or can I somehow go
directly from camera to DVD?
Thanks for any help

| | Which capture format? by
Leigh Tristram
I am capturing from and analogue signal and want to get the best possible
quality. I am converting old VHS tapes to DVD. I believe that uncompressed
AVI is the way to go, but the files are HUGE. I have 80Gb available , but
this isn't nearly enough for a few hours. What other formats give good
results but are not so memory hungry?

I have a Kodak Photo CD. On my PC I see about 15 directories, one of which

When I load this onto my DVD player, SmartNav (sic) starts but displays all

| | Whats replacing the Sony TRV33? by
Benny
I'm after my first miniDV camcorder, and its seems everybody recommends the
Sony TRV33 for my budget (about the £500 mark).
Looking on Jessops and a few other websites it looks like this has been
replaced by a 2004 model. Can anyone tell me which is the equivalent in the
new range?
I know I can still get the TRV33 online, but I thought I should look at the
new version first...unless anyone...
