| I am in the process of getting a new p.c. and want to know which capture card / what spec I should be looking for. I want to put all my 8mm camcorder footage onto cd (vcd/svcd) or dvd, I will have both burners in new machine. I also plan to buy a new digital camcorder this summer and will want to do the same with the footage from that. Any advice gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance Andy P.s. if this is the rong group for this question please accept my appologies and re direct me. |

Almost any no-name cheap card will be fine. Rather than buy an analogue capture card, have a look at a 'DV bridge', such as the Canopus offering. This is an external unit which accepts analogue video in and outputs via firewire. Another possibility is if the new camcorder a top-of-the-range unit. Many of these can act as a DV Bridge, which would save you a fair amount of money. Regards, Harry. |
