Default Standby mode on TRV33

Is there any automatic power off mode on the TRV33? I keep forgetting
to turn the camcorder off and then find the battery run down. My old
Sony Hi8 powered off automatically after 5 minutes of non use. There
must be a setting somewhere on the machine - but I can't find anything
in the manual.

Alternatively is there a TRV33 specific forum I can ask in?

Thanks

Have you tried reading your manual?
When you select Camera you're in Standby mode, press the little red
button and you're in Record mode, press the little red button again and
you're back in Standby mode.... and so on ad infinitum....

Your display shows either STBY (short for Standby) or REC (short for
Record) when you're shooting.

If you remain in Standby mode for about three minutes then the camcorder
switches itself to the OFF status (even though the selection is still in
the Camera position. Unless of course you have no cassette in the
camcorder, when it will remain in the Standby mode ad infinitum...

I've always thought of it as rec and pause

It flattens the battery it doesn't turn off

forgot to switch off once two hours later down to 1 hour battery life

Obviously you don't believe in reading the manual - or for that matter
in reading what it says on the camcorder itself :-)

If you'd taken the trouble to read the manual I I think you'd already
have taken the camcorder back and get it repaired/replaced..
