| My daughter has a WinTV PVR900 device. She recently recorded 4 programs, each play fine in VLC but using Windows Media Player or an Iomega media player device (No computer needed) I get major sound video sync problems. What would be the reason for this. Geoff Lane |

Maybe the other devices don have the correct codec for the format -- Trev Nobody is perfect. But Being a Yorkshire man is as close as you can get. |

They were created with WinTV and I think they use mpeg2 Media player is not used much so may be missing some codecs but the Iomega media player had the latest firmware so I assume is just not able to deal with the files properly. Geoff Lane Most TV cards and USB adapters have software that can be configured in many ways and called something like high quality, best , good, standard. What this does is limit the Bits per sec. Media player does not come with the MPEG 2 codec as its a commercial to be paid for codec but the win TV software probably included it so it should work. My archos 605 Media player needed a separate purchase for Mpeg 2 and will play but It might get a bit uppity about playing any DRM protected Video -- Trev Nobody is perfect. Its quiet likely that the codec that VLC is using is not available to the other players -- Trev Nobody is perfect. But Being a Yorkshire man is as close as you can get. |

It doesn't do what it says on the box. Geoff Lane |
