| I've tried to copy a film onto a DVD+R but as soon as the transfer is finished, the recorder 'finalises' the DVD so I cannot copy any more onto the same DVD. Is there some way I can get round this problem? |

Anyway, what are we talking about here, a computer drive, a stand alone DVD recorder or what?! |

Is there some way I can get round this problem? If what you where doing is copying it would have been no problem providing you had space but if you where making a DVD movie then the software would be rendering to DVD format which is not multi session. Might well be possible to add both movie files into the application at the outset and get both with a menu on the disc -- Trev You can always tell a Yorkshire man, But you can't tell him much. |

It's a Panasonic DMR-EX77EB. and the manual was written in chinese, translated to urdu, then to german, then to italian, and finally to english, as they usually are, and contain no information of any sense! I'll try to read it again, but previous attempts have not been at all helpful! |

I'm not sure if any software is in use, it is not using a computer, but the recorder presumably has something built in. John. |

Have a play with it, actually go and look through the various menus options, any thing that mentions "record" and "Finalising (disk/disc)" is going to be relevant in some way. I don't have a Panasonic DVD recorder but do have one of their TV's and have used their video cameras and whilst some of the wording in the manual could be better they are a lot better than the LG stuff I've had - clue, US English is the second language of Japan so I doubt that the problem is really their end... Oh, and perhaps if you tried posting your question the (correct) uk.tech.digital-tv group you might come across someone who has or uses the same recorder, this group is more about using video cameras and computers to make video content. |

On my DMR-EZ45 V copying to Disc asks if I want to finalize at the end of recording saying yes Finalizes the disc so that no further recording can be added and the disc can be played in another DVD player. Also ejecting a disc asks if I want to finalize. -- Trev You can always tell a Yorkshire man, But you can't tell him much. |

I'll try to read it again, but previous attempts have not been at all helpful! I've got the DMR-EX87EB which has a common manual with the 77. In fact the two recorders are identical with the exception of the hard disk size. The manual (in my view) is a very good manual, though with the many features of the 87/77 it might seem overly complicated unless you set aside a little time to read (and re-read) it. You'll find the information you need on page 21 and (more specifically) page 61. Finalising is listed in the index at the back of the manual (the first place you should have looked !!!). You might remember that UNLESS you finalise your DVD, you can't play it on any DVD player/recorder other than the recorder that it was recorded on. Anyway, this is Off Topic for this particular newsgroup, and as Jerry suggested your should RTFM :-) One of the (several) reasons, BTW, I went for this DVD recorder is the ability to get your Sky Box to control the recording on the DMR-EX77EB/DMR-EX87EB. -- Alpha |
