I've tried to copy a film onto a DVD+R but as soon as the transfer is finished, the recorder 'finalises' the DVD so I cannot copy any more onto the same DVD. Is there some way I can get round this problem? Another case of not RTFM... Normally you can select if to automatically finalise at the end of recording in the set up or record menu. Anyway, what are we talking about here, a computer drive, a stand alone DVD recorder or what?! It's a Panasonic DMR-EX77EB. and the manual was written in chinese, translated to urdu, then to german, then to italian, and finally to english, as they usually are, and contain no information of any sense! I'll try to read it again, but previous attempts have not been at all helpful! Your recorder only allows you to split a movie. It won't allow you to join up two videos that you have on your hard disk. If you select Options via the remote, and split a recorded video - you'll see it telling you that you cannot "join-up" two recordings. The manual also tells you this. The only way to do what you want is to burn two DVDs, import (copy) them into your PC, then use software to join up the movies before burning them to a new DVD disk. I use AVS Video tools (specifically the AVS Convert program).. The manual is quite good, though you do need to spend a little time going through it. It might seem a little daunting because you can do so much with the various facilities on that particular recorder. -- Zillion |

If what you where doing is copying it would have been no problem providing you had space but if you where making a DVD movie then the software would be rendering to DVD format which is not multi session. Might well be possible to add both movie files into the application at the outset and get both with a menu on the disc You can't do that with the OP's Panasonic recorder. -- Zillion |
