A little (if at all) documented feature is that passing anything through the Canopus disables all macrovision. Paid about £200 GBP for mine years ago.... Chris --- avast! You need a TBC, not an analogue DV converter (although the some of the more expencive models do contain a TBC also)! All marcovision does is disrupt the sync pulses, reconstruct the sync and all will be well, disclaimer except that what the OP wants to do is still illegal /disclaimer. |

| I have a perfectly good Macrovision remover. It has a full Scart In and Out. Mail me if you'd be interested but really I'm only looking for about £15 for the device. I received an Alba DVD Recorder from someone on my local Freecycle Group and which I use for recording from the Tv on. I also have a Panasonic DVD Recorder. What I try to do is keep my favourite programs on one DVD so that it is much easier to view later. The trouble is that when I try to record on the Panasonic from the Alba a message keeps popping up on screen saying NoREC and that I am trying copy copyrighted material and will therefore not record. Hence the reason for the CopyGaurd remover James |

I have one of these too, brilliant for sorting out crap quality in old VHS tapes etc, whether copywrite or otherwise. The TBC device is perfectly legal (a device sold as a "Macrovision defter" is not BTW, although difficult to stop being sold) but what you might wish to use it for makes it illegal, just as it's perfectly legal to own petrol but if you then decide to copy a certain Mr Molotov...! |
