| When I am transferring from my VCR to my PC - using Pinnacle 10 studio plus, both picture and sound is fine. But when playing the AVI back the sound is gone. Any suggestions? /Lars |

Check the settings in the Windows Volume Control program (Start | Programs | Accessories | Entertainment) - in particular, the Recording settings must be set so Line In is enabled and the volume is turned up. I had this problem whenI tried to record from an analogue capture card until I remembered that just because you can hear the live sound, you may still not be supplying that sound to the recording program (eg Pinnacle). |

I know you've said 'VHS' but you're not capturing *SVHS* by any chance, if you are, you do know that the 4 pin DIN socket only carries the vision signal? You need to use the audio (phono) outputs also. |

So sound is getting into the sound card and coming out of the headphone / line out socket during recording? That suggests that you've got everything connected correctly but that the sound card isn't set to feed the sound to the recording application - as I suggested originally. But it was good that someone reminded us that S-Video doesn't include the audio, only the video - I'm sure there are some people who aren't aware of that. |

| My problem is solved :-) I had pointed at the videoc ard instead of the sound card for audio import. Thank you for all your suggestions :-) /Lars |
